Boycott Description

I went to LA Fitness mid January to work out and was told they took over Bally's. When I got there, they confiscated my card, punched in something on their computer, and gave me one of their cards. I was told I could keep working out until my fees were due in April. Towards the end of April my account was charged without my consent. When I was with Bally's they would notify me in writing when my fees were due.  I made it a point to make sure that the funds were available. I was informed by LA Fitness that the same amount would be applied in order to renew my account and it would be charged to the same debit card WHEN and IF I chose to continue with L.A. Fitness. The amount of $143.88 was charged to my account without notification for a one year term, and at the time, there were insufficient funds available for the entire amount in my account, consequently because of the carelessness and inconsiderate actions of this crap company, I was charged overdraft fees from my bank.
I called LA Fitness headquarters in Irvine and spoke to a woman who claimed to be a supervisor and she said there was no one else she could transfer me to. She said that when I accepted the new LA Fitness club card, I agreed to their terms and I E-signed my agreement. I was never told that by the person at the front desk and by no means did I physically sign or agree to anything. This woman was unapologetic and unsympathetic to my concerns and said I was responsible for those fees, and refused to return my money.

Boycott Demands

This is so infuriating and a violation of any ethical business practices, it seems that L.A. Fitness is only interested in the monetary profit of the business and is less concerned about the well-being of its members. I'm not sure if there's any way to improve this company other than shutting them down.

For what it's worth, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I've changed/cancelled my debit card number so they can't ever bill me again.
