Boycott of Gateway Computers

Purchased Gateway 17" Laptop from HSN, deciding because of specific features.  USB 3.0 port mandatory.  Received with NO 3.0 port.  Called HSN's Gateway service number.  "Tech" said that it would have to be sent in to change the mother board because he agreed that it was in the specification.  Given drop off location 90 mile trip.  Paid shipping locallly which saved 2 1/2 hours of travel.

Received back untouched.  Called again.  Demanded escalation and talked to Level 2 Techniocal support.  They said TOUGH DARTS.

A company with NO integrity.  HSN, to their credit, took it back...but they still sell Gateways.

Will NEVER BUY ACER-GATEWAY PRODUCTS THE REST OF MY LIFE.

Worst support ever... And $99.99 just to help me with a black screen! Are you freaking kidding me! That's outrageous!

Gateway has the worst customer service. I will never buy from them again. I recently installed windows 7 on my laptop, which previously ran on windows vista. The fresh install removed pretty much every driver on my computer. I couldn't use the touch volume control anymore but I found a solution to that problem via an internet search engine. Today, I realized my built webcam doesn't work and I tried to search for a solution online but to no avail. I figured I'd give gateway a call for some quick help but no! There's no way for me to reach them because I bought my latop in August 2009 for college. According to their website, I'm "ineligible" to make a free phone call to them for help so they suggested that I chat with an agent online. I did and he was no help. 1. I explained my problem in detail and he still kept asking me what I needed. 2. I told him I can no longer access my recovery management software and he said he could only help me with one problem because I'm out of warranty. Then he sent me a link for my webcam driver, assured me it would work, and closed the chat. I clicked the link, unzipped the file, and ran the setup, but alas, "webcam not recognized." I had to go through rigamarole for a new battery when I was within warranty. I spoke to someone from possibly India, he had a thick accent and couldn't understand my problem. They outsource jobs to other countries and we can't even get decent support!? After buying their product?! Fvck that. P.s no, I still haven't solved my problem.

I've spent 10 hours trying to upgrade my video card. There's onboard graphics nvidia 6100. The system only recognizes the 6100 not the nvidia geforce 210 that I purchased. I've looked in the bios settings and there's no way to disable the onboard vid. I've disabled it in windows but the board still won't recognize my new card. Solution: buy something besides a Gateway.
