YOU CAN NOT EVEN PUT IN THE CORRECT SN #AND GET PAST THE STUPID PHONE PROMPT . MY SN# IS LONGER THAN 11 DIGITS.... AND YOU CAN'T BREAK THROUGH TO A PERSON..... THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.....

Purchased the Acer Aspire E5-553G-1986 from newegg for 479.98 on a Black-Friday special and now I know the hardware was too good to be true for the money. 

not only does acer not have any real support, it's like having a one-sided conversation with an automated bot anyway so its a complete waste of time. Not to mention they want me to provide a box to ship it in so they'll not be liable for any damages unlike literally any other company that sends to a 'shipping kit' to return your gizmo safely and securely. 

plus when i call support now and they refer my # they'll just tell me the call can't be completed and i'll have to call back under a different number with a new issue and deal with more horrible prepared customer support bots

Just got of Acer chat support from there website and while I was polite and courteous, they decided to not help me before knowing what was wrong.  I told them I had a problem with my mouse buttons not working after a windows update and the first thing said was "i'm sorry, but by your serial number your laptop is out of warranty."  I said that cannot be as i just purchased it.  He said it shows out of warranty as of 9/29/11, yet I purchased it brand new (not refurbed) on 9/23/11. He finally listened to my problem then before i finished my explanation blew me off and said it was a hardware problem and had to be shipped to them for repair.  I explanied to him it was not as I could recreate the problem by restoring back to before the windows update and they worked fine, updating again caused the same problem.  He said he could not help me without proof of purchase, so i used the "attach file" option to send a pic of my receipt and he said i need to mail them the original (which i will not do) for proof.  I said I would but if there was anyway to help with my issue, he said other then sending it infor repair, no.  So what is the point of their "live chat support" then???

They want the ssid not the serial # which happens to be 11 Char... They have good tech support. At least you can understand them...

Pure CRAP - does not work out of the box

Waited 60 minutes on hold for chat, then they disconnected me

Do not buy anything from this company. I sent my computer in previously and I decided not to fix it. It was under warranty but they said that whatever was wrong with it was not covered. So I paid $25 in shipping. Now I want to get it fixed and since it is under warranty the automated chick gave me a different number to call. I called that number and they said the only way to get a repair is online. Now how does that make sense? Your computer is broken...the keyboard won't work...and they want you to apply for repair online. I tried to call the original number but the ignorant automated lady said I had called before and my computer is not under warranty...to call the other number. How do companies get away with this b.s.

When you want to dispute the charge, because they didn't fix the problem.  They say "no refund, no refund for you".  They say they will e-mail a dispute form to you and a supervisor will phone you within 48 hours.  Neither event happens.  They are "over there" and they must feel untouchable.  They think we Americans are stupid, I can tell you that from their attitude on the phone.

Acer warranty service is missleding advertising.

It took me a year to fight for the warranty rights.

Their mistake in serial number data caused me lots of pain and suffering. I was mistreated by Acer who does not care about the warranty unless you want to pay additional fees for already paid services. Email to administration was not responded. Stay away from Acer products

If you purchase an Acer or Gateway product and don't get an extended warranty you will be stuck like chuck and you will be feeling like a duck.  (1) have to pay for shipping of your product that you purchase defective. (2) The LCD is so weak and fragile that it will crack with the slightest of pressure. (3) and you will have to pay 199.00 to have it repaired even if the system is under warranty. (4) and if you want to speak with a supervisor just forget it. The don't want you to go away mad they just want you to be gone after they get your money.  Acer is a Tiawanese company who don't give a Damn about the customer once they have the money.  The people you will need to speak with to get what you want is Mark Groveunder or LeRon Clark they are not going to talk with you just past you on to a customer service agent which hands are tied but if you bug those 2 enough you will get what you want even your money back.

i wouldn't buy an Acer or a Gateway if time reverted back to the dictionary, encyclopedia, and the pen and the pad their products sucks and the customer service sucks and management don't give a DAMN  for REAL... I know I have seen many customer left helpless because they purchased one of these products.  Don't believe me buy one and you will see that what is being said on this forum is true.

I'm not disputing that Acer customer service may suck, however the recording asks for the SNID NOT the SN.  The SNID is 11 digits long and is under the SN

With regard to "Customer Support" I trust that we are also referring to tech support. Even the simplest query via email to tech support gets a response characterized by lengthy "boilerplate" language, followed by a reference to a web site which may not even relate to the original query.

It's spectacularly bad!

I agree, and disagree with this comment. I am an IT Guy and Electrical Engineer. I agree with the comments on Acer. They fit right in with the mold of e-Machines, Vaio, Toshitbox, etc.!

However, I must disagree with your comment about HP. I find them to be the best of the Tech Support bunch. I deal with them on a weekly basis and must compliment them highly.

Keep this in mind ..... if you are a Home User expect to be treated like one. IE: IS THE PLUG IN THE WALL, DID YOU TURN IT ON? Now we Business Users are a diffrent breed alltogether. We ARE usually highly technical and know that you catch more flies with honey than salt. Talk to the Tech Support Person with respect and dignity. Treat them as a equal and someone to learn from. Don't sell yourself or the Tech short. They are there not to just collect a paycheck, but dedicated ones will help you immensly IF ..... you talk to the nicely. It's kind of like walking into a bank. They have something that you want, and if you piss them off they have the option to close their station and ignore you. Get it yet?
