Last week my mom went to go fill her prescription (which I will leave unnamed for now for privacy and out of respect for her) she had a hard time finding a place that would fill it, most pharmacies stated that they werre "out" of this particular prescription, but were nice about it.
We went to a Walgreens in North Port FL and the pharmacist stated that she "didnt feel comfortable" filling this prescription for "her". We were stunned because my mother has filled her same script at this same store a few times in the past and have filled it at other Walgreens for the past 3 years.
Perplexed I asked to speak to the manager, when he came to the window of the drive thru she went and hid somewhere, he proceeded to tell us she can refuse anyone medication if she doesnt feel comfortable. Well we tried to explain the arrogant manager that she has been going to Walgreens for 3 years and she is in the system. But they refused to look any further.
Then it escalated because my mom started crying, because it had been 3 or 4 days of looking for this medicine with no avail and she was frustrated and sick. I stepped in and stated she was a 10 year Navy vet and served this country, she is a war hero and your not even going to try and help her? The manager stated that he too served in the military.... That pissed me off, I said to him "I'm glad you can walk around and get out of bed without medication, I hope you never have to be on medication that makes you puke every day but it is the only thing that will actually help you get out of bed." There was no sympathy nothing. I asked his name, and he told me ( I forgot but I think it was Richard or Dick which would be fitting), then I asked for the pharmacists name and he stated "Mrs. Pharmacist." WTF? I asked again and he said the same thing....
I called corporate office to make a complaint, and they really did nothing to help but stated they supported the pharmacist decision not to help my mom.
I consider Walgreens to be very unpatriotic and rude and I will never EVER spend another penny in a Walgreens store ever.
