TOSHIBA SUCKS!! - 3/21/17 6:37 AM

TOSHIBA SUCKS!!

I have a Toshiba optical drive in my Dell XPS. It sucks. The computer itself is wonderful, have no problems with it. I absolutely dispise Toshiba. The optical drive sucks because it can't read any discs that have been home-burnt. I burn discs on that drive, and it can't read them when I put them back in. My friend has a 51-inch Toshiba laptop from 2014 and it died completely (logicboard failure) within 1 month after purchase. IT SUCKS!!

It just SUCKS.

I recieved a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-1C4 as a christmas present on Christmas 2015. This laptop was sluggish and slow from the start. It once got to a point where Windows 10 would NOT start. I had to install Windows 7, which had a lot of problems working with this PC. Later on, I upgraded it to Windows 8.1. This kind of improved the performance until I realised this "modern" laptop could not even run MODERN games. Then the hinges... OH BOY... The entire bloody screen assembly falls apart over the course of a few months, with visible wires and hinges hanging about. The screen bezel SNAPS for no apparent reason and the screen can now fold into a TABLET. Do not be misleaded by the 5 star reviews people leave on sites. They are getting paid to put up good reviews.

I paid for support (foolishly)

thinking they would help fix the product they made- but today the Toshiba support center is BROKEN_ busy busy- it is never busy usually (and sadly I know from waiting on the phone for hours on end) so now I have bought a Toshiba, and had it sent to repair to be retuened broken and much worse (they even scratched the beautiful finish) regardless the nice finish is all this laptop has it it has NEVER worked yet- now NVER buy the support you will not get any! They are such a shoddy product the support lines are so busy it appears to have crashed, so now I can't even turn my laptop on, they told me to wait at 7 last night.. it is now after 4 p.m. no call back and I can't call them- now that is pathetic, and to the guy who says "waah" to us complaining- you obviously have a very deluded sense- my laptop is brand new and it has never worked, they toss meback and fourth, between hardware and software they have no real compatibility between anyone- you will be a loser if you buy Toshiba.. I know 6 month owner of one I still can't use they messed up my work, my job to get out art and websites at home- they have made it miserable- and it is all TOSHIBAS fault!

Brand new Toshiba fails!

I am so mad and I now detest Toshiba brand new laptop in August all the bells and whistles, except it won't work, and now I have had to pay 200 dollars to get support they can't fix it and no one is offerning to replace it, Toshiba is a bad product I took a chance and I regret it! Get a Mac! I am on an old Mac 2009 it is the onluy laptop that has never needs repair- this satellite s55-b5-157 is just a terrible laptop, I was so excited to get it but it has never worked, 2 times to the toshiba repairs and 20 hours of service help you would think they would just replace it! I think this laptop is a issue bigger than this model, they are cheaping out on parts or something!

DVD VCR Recorder

I will never purchase another product from Toshiba. I have purchased two different products from them and both completely different products. I contacted support and both times got passed back an forth with no resolution to the problem. The last product which I used approximetly 5 times in four months just stopped working. When I called support their answer was sorry sir but there is nothing we can do since it is about two week past their 90 warranty.

And why only a 90 day warranty maybe they don't have much confidence in their own product to warranty it any longer.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Toshiba just keep on walking.

READ IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE

Never ever , ever under any circumstance buy a toshiba satellite labtop unless you like to endure headaches, severe anger, and losing large sums of money. Owned brand new satellite C55B5554 or something like that. Overall it is extremely cheap made full of bloatware garbage and just frankly down right shooothtty garbage. After 2 months of little to no use at all litterally only used the labtop for a total of round about 10-15 hours a month for two months, so thats about 20 hours or a little over a day but extremely light use.. anyway a slew of problems have happend to many to list but as in short motherboard, adapter problem, and memory gone bad. Also I may note toshiba help centers are trash and will not help you with anything only to keep you on the phone repeating its out of warranty in forieghn broken english. Out of warranty my lunking aoarrse . ALso if it blows up the first day you have it they clearly cannot say out of warranty they will then put you through the paces of shipping it to them and sending it back stating you messed with it and voided warranty when in reality you never did such at all period. toshiba purposly forgets to put hardware screws in your labtop so that when it comes back they can say you fookeddded with it. Also I may note acording to many blogs I read on toshiba has been visciously sending out updates bricking the C55 series linup of there garbage labtops so that the customer has a paper weight computer that they cannot do anthing on. Why would they you may wonder because its a insurance for them , they figuire lets brick those labtops before they start breaking down. Faalrrck you toshiba i hope your company goes under lots of customers feeling scammed out there you bartturds.

its happening again

with most people choosing to upgrade to windows 10 many Toshiba cumsters are finding little support for the issues with their computers. 1st the call center is outside US and the folks on the phone dont seem to have much knowledge or desire to help. As one rep explained to me there is a 12 hour time difference so while we think we are talking to someone during the day its actually late night there. 2nd they want your money. Of course you are calling after 90 day and yes you know its out of warranty but windows10 is a Toshiba Partner approved product. Unless you are going to fork over 150.00 your call has ended and even if you do they may not know how to help you.

Toshiba really screwed this one up. I wont be buying or recommending Toshiba to anybody. sad to say after 7 yrs.

Never will I buy a Toshiba product again. Bought the unit, it had a HD crash in 2 weeks. Got it back and tried to load MS Office. Would not upload due to the certification being used on the old HD. Spent 9 hours talking to Toshiba. Idiots! They could not stop themselves from transfering me around to various offices. For a credit of $144 from Toshiba direct they could have saved a customer. But, they stood by a 2 week return policy. Never will I buy from them again. Worst Customer Service ever encountered.

Satelite P75-A7100 is horrible - 7/16/15 3:33 PM

Satelite P75-A7100 is horrible

I always liked the Toshiba Salite line of computers untill now. This computer is the worst computer I have ever owned, never again will I buy another Toshiba. I use to recommend over anything else. I purchased this for myself. Then reccomended one to my brother. Mine came the next day. His never showed up. This was Toshiba's fualt.

After owning this laptop for some time I will say this, it came with Win 8 which is total garbage. Whenever I goto a new location it takes close to a hour before I can use it. It takes several trips to that location before I dont have this issue. It is a laptop, a laptop is made to take from place to place. But when you have to fight with it simply becouse you are in a different locaton its never been is absurd.

Wifi connection can be spoty, somtimes it just doesnt work for no reason.

Another thing about the traveling aside from you will also fight with conectng to their wifi once you get it to even boot up and work is your battery is problably already dead if you just put it in sleep mode. My case seems to shut tightly, but do think its possibly an issue with the lid closing and staying closed during a trip, but havnt confirmed this is the cause yet.

I have also a huge problem with dataloss on this computer. Files just disapear without a trace. I seen this hapen right in front of my eyes. Your data is not safe on this computer at all. No idea what is causing this. No way I found to recover the data either. Tried varouse methods including recovery tools.

Now I have expereinced search issues. Have files on your computer and need to find them? Forget about searching for them with the windows search feature it works somtimes and somtimes not. I would say its a MS issue, but why are a ton of other people not having this issue then?

Other people sweare up and down Win 8 is faster. This computer was very fast out of the box. As I install more programs the slower this computer gets. It's only fast with nothing isntalled.

Boot ups from a off or restart state are painfully slow. same with shutdowns.

Now after fitghting with this computer delating programs and tranfsering files off its hard drive, I am tring to find my files, but discovered my user profile is curropt.

I am in a rush now tring to get importent infromation from my computer and will not be able to in time for my lawsuite. I am in tears dealing with this computer.

I am not just some yahoo that doesnt know how to use a computer. Experts come to me sometimes with questions. I build and repair my own desktop computers, I write my own programs. I been using computers for for over 30 years programing them right from the start on a Commedore Pet. I use to think my Packard Bell was the worse. I learned alot from that computer becouse it always gave problems, but nothing as drastic as this computer. This is absulutly the worst computer I have ever owned. Will be backing things up soon and selling it and buying somthing from somone else.

This was a refurbished computer from Toshiba, when I got it you would never have known it was refurbished. I don't know what the problems where but they had a bunch at the time and offered a awsome deal on these. It's no wonder the warrenty period was so short which I found out too late. Are the updated models P75-A7200 the same way? I dont know, but I do know you lost features with the 7200 which was to replace these 7100's. If I known their was a major defect with this computer I would have simply purchased a cheaper computer or spent a little more on somthing else with similiur specs.

I think Toshiba new of a major defect with these and sold them with a non failure knwoing the time frame the problems would creep up and twisted their warrenty so reflect from loosing more money on these peices of crap.

Are all Toshiba's junk? I dont know, I use to have good results with them. But after getting this garbage from them never again can I trust them. It's no wonder they shipped this next day to me. I wasnt even expecting it that day but they apperently wanted it out of their hands fast and now I see why.

How Toshiba ruined Christmas…

How Toshiba ruined Christmas…

I purchased a computer as a present for my sister on 11/8. When it arrived – we turned it on to the black screen of death and one line saying “no bootable source”. I will never forget the look of disappointment on my sisters face about her present. Her computer had broken and she was waiting for a new one. After a week of fighting to complete the returns process. Toshiba Direct customer service does not respond. I finally contacted Toshiba in the US. You can only leave messages for the customer escalations department – they do not take any calls. After too many messages to count, they finally called me back after I advised I was going to seek outside assistance. The rep “Joanna” asked me to forward documentation via email which I did. No one responded. I tried calling her back on the number she called but apparently they call from fake numbers as you get an out of service message when you try to call back. Why would anyone in a company have to hide behind fake call numbers unless there are issues? During my wait, I realized Toshiba now had the same computer with an additional 2G of memory and a 250 G hard drive for $20 less. Since my early purchase at premium price failed to provide a functional product in the needed time frame, I wanted of the new ad which expires 12/8. Anyway, I finally called and left multiple messages and finally advised I was going to seek outside assistance if I didn’t receive a call back. Finally, “Elsie” called me back to advise me that Joanna was out sick.. She asked me the case number but when I said I didn’t have one – she looked it up by serial number. I asked her for the case number and she would not provide one stating it was internal to Toshiba. She then advised me that only Joanna could assist me and since she was out sick this would have to wait until Monday. I advised her of the absurdity of the fact that in a company the size of Toshiba only one person could assist me. She claimed it had to do with each person’s data base . I advised that the offer on the spec I wanted to get in exchange expired on Monday and it is imperative that the issue be resolved since Toshiba has been sitting with my gift money for over 3 weeks and I need to utilize that for a new computer. She assured me that she and Joanna would work to resolve this on Monday with Toshiba Direct (as no one works on the weekend).

So now here we are on Monday…Toshiba direct has advised me of an expected ship date of 12.15 via email. For the second time I advised them via email that I wanted the new specs and not to ship without communicating with customer escalations…I am sure this email will be ignored as have all the others….

Don't Buy Toshiba External Hard Drives! - 11/9/14 4:25 AM

Don't Buy Toshiba External Hard Drives!

So THIS summer I bought a Canivo 2 TB external hard drive. I though tit was cool since it plugged into your router and not through USB. Plus it was on sale at Staples. Well first the read write time is SLOW. Watching movies via wilreless through this? Good luck. So I said I use it as backup. Well the drive failed. You can see your stuff through the really bad software (like it's from a college class). You can't access the data through the rowser or Explorer anymore.

So I called Toshiba support. Aweful. IT seems it is a known issues on these hard drives. They even have a web site called acclaim because there is so many. Anyway the rep said I did not need my recipt which I did not have (who does?) and send a copy of the statement with your bad hard drive to their warehouse. I spent 14 dollars and they shipped it back saying I did not have the reciept. I called them back and they said they cannot help me without the official receipt. THey knwo it's in issue from my serial number and yet failed to exchange it even with just a credit card statement as proof. Horrible people. STAY AWAY !!!!

I am warning you Toshiba laptops are not reliable don't buy them.

A professional analysis of their HDDs - 9/9/14 10:25 PM

A professional analysis of their HDDs

Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. I'm a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, I also hold the following certifications, Department of Defense Directive 8570, Cisco Certified Network Administrator, as well as all of the MIT Lvl 1-3 certifications. I've graduated from college, currently holding a Masters of Computer Science. As for my career, it has been a little bit jumpy, I've owned multiple businesses that had to do with technology and private contracting, I've worked with Government contracting fronts, that partner up with the Department of Defense and a few offshore corporations, finally I've decided to settle down in the Military, to experience something else and serve the People. Now why is this relevent? Why should I tell you all of this? Does it even matter, yes. As I am a professional and I am giving you professional advice through a professional review. Now that we have all of that out of the way, you should know Toshiba manufactured Hard Disk Drives are very common in low-end devices that require storage. They've contracted in with multiple companies, including HP. They mainly profit from their OEM contracts, to say the least, I've had many customers and myself experience hard disk drive failure with many, many models produced by Toshiba. This includes drives within Desktops, Laptops, External Storage, and DIY bundles, etc. Now, as a professional I've analyzed S.M.A.R.T Data from many drives and Seagates Berracuda series has held my personal record of 6 years, that's nearly 50,000 total power on time, to date the drive I am referencing is still fully functional and all of the S.M.A.R.T analysis data is nearly identical from what the initial analysis was when it was manufactured by Seagate. What's troubling is, for 6 years, I can leave a computer on, the disks constantly reading and writing without as much as a single allocation or block error. On the other hand, Toshibas Hard Disk Drives, have failed on me, right out of the box during a format. Infact, I've installed Toshiba drives and discovered they came failed from the manufacturer with no factory S.M.A.R.T data, which means Toshiba still packaged the drive well aware it was a faulty product. As we speak, I'm formatting a 2 month old Toshiba drive, and the S.M.A.R.T data shows me it's failing. I won't go into the details, but if you would like to see what is contained in "S.M.A.R.T" data, feel free to look online for a sample or Wikipedia it. What's even more troubling is in the average consumer market, Toshibas competitors HDDs (Hard Disk Drives), reach what they refer to as the aging state, which is 3 years of total power on time. Now, at this point those competitor drives are still fully functional, just as the operational temperatures rise, per .1 celsius theoretically based off of mathematical equations and analysis, it shows that as an average aging drive rises .1C, that is an extra .5% chance of HDD failure within the next year, as it reaches it's non-optimal temperatures of 40C+ (WD and Seagate drives can function at higher temperatures before the aging state). As the operational temperatures rise, the risk time drops from a year to half a year when you hit 45C, as an example. Now back to Toshibas HDDs, on average and statistics show, they simply don't last more than 2 full NTFS formats when they do come from the factory "working". What does this say about Toshiba to the world? Does it say they don't care if their products are held to the industry quality standards that your hard earned money has paid for, yet manufactured by your own tax dollars. That's up for you to decide, but personally, when I see a Toshiba drive, I get sweaty palms. Especially when they contain sensitive data.

Lies, incompetence, broken promises.. - 12/29/13 7:40 PM

Lies, incompetence, broken promises..

There are plenty of companies that have bad tech support, crappy customer service, or just plain suck. Toshiba is none of these- bad customer and tech support would be a huge step up. Toshiba is in a class by itself for horrendous treatment of it's customers.

I don't have the time to even begin to describe the nightmare that dealing with Toshiba tech support has been.. but here are a few highlights:

- They promised to repair items under warranty, then refused to do the repair only once I sent it to them, and the hard drives had been removed.

- They did not send any form of receipt, via email or mail, for either of the two repairs, despite repeated promises to so. It took about 4 requests for them to finally email a receipt for the first one, I still haven't received it for the second (I just sent the third request for the receipt). Seriously, should I have to ask for a receipt?

- They lost the flash drive with recovery software that I had sent along with the laptop, in accordance with the instructions. They promised to find or replace it multiple times, but still have not sent it or given an update weeks later.

- I had to send my laptop to one repair center to have one part fixed, wait for them to send it back, then send it to another repair location for another part to be fixed. Toshiba couldn't even arrange for it to be shipped from one repair location to the other.

- Their repair center told me incorrect information about the issues with my computer, and how they would repair it. And it probably goes without saying that they're phone staff was utterly incompetent.

- When they recommended I go to a local authorized repair center, all 3 places they referred me to didn't exist anymore (or at least had changed addresses and phone numbers and couldn't be reached or found on google).

- No one I spoke with ever seemed to take notes, so I had to re-explain a complicated issue to people idiots who are not tech-savvy at all, which took about 20 minutes each time I called. After I waited on hold for 20 minutes, that is. I had to call their various departments more than a dozen times, wasting many hours..

- Almost every promise they made to me was broken, and almost everything they told me wasn't true.

I'm so glad I bought a squaretrade warranty, those people are wonderful. As for Toshiba, I will try to never by another Toshiba product again in my life.

PS- When I mentioned the terrible Toshiba service to both Squaretrade and Seagate (who I called about a hard drive issue, since Toshiba was useless), everyone I spoke with said they had heard this before, plenty of times. Even within their industry, Toshiba is known for having terrible customer support.

why does it only say one person is boycotting? Does that mean this website only has one then? Because it said '1' before I joined.

anyway, Toshiba will rape you with their guile. They'll pretend to have horrible English when speaking to you, at cruicial points in the discussion, but speak perfectly clear when matters of money are involved.

Who can stop them? Who can do ANYTHING about it? Toshiba should have quite a few STDS by now from raping hundreds of Americans daily.

Fantastic. Finally, a forum discussing the truth about Toshiba that is currently being used. This needs to reach the top of search engine results.

I'll keep it short and sweet.

DO NOT call for customer support. They ease you into letting them access your pc/laptop. Shortly after, they pump you full of malware, telling you it was there to begin with, and use made-up information to justify it.

Then, the offer to fix it for X dollars (usually 100). As an ex-navy cryptologic technician, I had to see for myself what I was reading about on the net, and I am veryifying it. It's a giant scam with multiple arms.

They ask for your phone number to sell it, but that is irrelevant in comparison.

Below, a few commentors are clearly shills. I imagine they're cheap for hire. Liars work for next to nothing.

Toshiba uses India for support thus rendering U.S. law invalid; you can't do a thing about it.

If you're reading this, it's obviously too late for you; warn others now.

IF you do end up letting them access your computer, ensure you close the 'logmein' process running in task manager (alt+tab, click 'show all' at the bottom). It's true you're already infected, but this at least stops them from lurking on your computer. Disgusting-I know. The 'support' loser from India kept twitching things on my OS after the call until I closed it.

I know, I said 'short and sweet', but sadly, there's so much more to this. It's an abomination. I hope soon enough people will come together and do something about this; I'm on board if the others are adults.

Enough is enough. I called to see if they could 'help' me, as I had uninstalled my bluetooth. I was told viruses were to blame, as the poor English-speaking a-hole manipulated my cursor to draw infantile diagrams on my notepad in front of me while on the phone. I called him out in the end, and heard him chuckle. He simply asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

I knew to wipe my OS and just forget about it, but he assured me viruses latch onto your hard-drive PHYSICALLY. That only by paying 100 dollars could I be 'virus free'.

When I first told him that my problem was with bluetooth, and let him 'logmein', he went first to see if I had virus protection. I had intentionally disabled it after freshly cleaning my OS, and he STILL said that I had downloaded viruses (I hadn't done a thing.).

Bottom line: Warn others; Toshiba is the most corrupt business in the world concerning computers.

ah, and to the moron below who said 'all products have this problem, they complain about dell, etc' : You, like the other couple shills below, are liars and you'll get what's coming to you.

In the meantime....I'm just hoping someone has the bravery to take action against them. As it is, you'd have better luck going up against big pharma (yes, exaggeration.).

to HELL with these manipulative, corrupt, money hungry crooks and their plan to violate the humbled and ignorant. As well as the savvy testing them to see for themselves.

Avoid Toshiba

I personally refuse to buy or service toshiba products anymore, and advise others to ban buying them as well. Even as a license computer repair business and a micorsoft partner. With out going into a big rant, and thank goodness to microsoft (back in the days of win7 pro sp1). I was able to save a customers system from their factory screw up. Endless hours on the phone for drivers to fix a firmware problem. Wanting me of all people to eather join their team (meaning I would loose money with their policy), or wanting me to send it into one of their services centers that wanted over $150 for putting in a floppie with the software to fix the problem.

Let's just say I lost on the repair job, but was able to get it done for less than what Toshiba wanted to my customer. No I'm not willing to do it again.

Toshiba has shown me that they do not stand behind their products in more than one way and I'm not going to list all of them. The other horror stories that I see posted here I have no questions about.

Toshiba does not support any of their product lines that I can see. There for I would advise anyone. Unless you have really deep pockets and don't care about loosing your data. Not to buy Toshiba products.

No I'm not going to give my business Name. I'm not going to drag my customers private information into definding a law suite. Heck, I just tried one of their hard drives again, and it died during a wipe. Never ever again Toshiba. Never.

From a Tech to who ever. Toshiba just isn't worth it.

For the person who Toshiba repair Techs said ther keyboard had liquid damage I was tols the same thing when all I needed was the software reloaded becaus it just went blank one day. IIncluding your complaint I have found 20 people who were also told they had liduid damage and they are positive they did not. They sent back my laptop with the keyboard taped because they broke the lower right corner and they refuse to repair it unless I pay $70.

Toshiba cheap quality

I never had a notebook that creaked when I opened it up. I had to have Toshiba replace the hard drive after only 3 months of ownership. The keyboard keeps popping up in one corner. Toshiba's drivers cause PC to crash. Right touchpad button only works when it wants to. These are my issues on a C855-S5245. I won't rant anymore about Toshiba, but I am certainly not going to buy another product from Toshiba.

Repair Depot claims water damage

Had my new satelite laptop for <1 month and the keyboard stopped working. Was told that the only way to even get it looked at under warranty was to spend $25 to ship it to CA. Since there was no other option, went ahead and shipped it there. Then get an email saying there was significant water damage and it is not covered under warranty and it will cost another $70 to get it fixed. I at no time during ownership of the laptop spilled anything in it or had it near any other form of moisture. They offered no help other than filing a claim with fedex to say that they caused water damage on a previously broken keyboard in transit. You've got to be kidding me. Now my options are they ship me back a broken laptop or I pay another $70. The worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life.

Dont Buy Toshiba

Dont buy Toshiba. If you have a Toshiba product you are trying to sell, do everyone a favor and take it to the shooting range. Dont believe a single favorable rating on any of their products. There isnt anything good about any of them. Read the reviews. Learn from the mistakes of the countless consumers that have been robbed by this ruthless corporate giant. Read the fine print-- really -- get the warranty out of the box (BEFORE you buy)and see what it will cost you if you happen to purchase defective equipment. Don't trust Toshiba. They wont take care of the issue unless you cover the cost to repair. Thats right... you will pay and you wont feel good about it unless you have money to burn. (I had to rate one star for the categories below for how bad they are as a company - for their products and service, otherwise I would have given them no stars at all... now if the icons were dog turds and not stars.. hmmm I would have associated Toshiba with a bunch of them.)

Ask anyone who works in a computer shop and they'll tell you that all computer brands have problems. If you go out on the net looking for Toshiba rants, you'll find it. If you're looking for Dell rants, you'll find it. Saying that individual models are prone to failure is true. Saying that one entire brand is better than another is naive and uninformed.

Never Buy Toshiba Laptop

First bought Toshiba Satellite L755-S5311 for Christmas 2012. That was the beginning of my nightmare. The hard drive crashed within the first month, so Best Buy gave me a new one. It again crashed a couple of months later. I took it back to BestBuy and they repaired the harddrive, but said I would have to pay $60 for the operating system?!?!? Something that would have been included had I have sent it to Toshiba directly. However, after a long dispute process, I eventually received another operating system.

Another couple of months go by and the hard drive crashes again! Mind you I lose everything every time this hard drive crashes. I have to reload all of my software, etc.

This time I send it to Toshiba. They replace the hard drive again and return it without issue.

Now we are just out of warranty and the hard drive crashes again!! Send it back to Toshiba. They offer me a refurbished Toshiba Satellite L855-S5112. I was not exactly pleased with a refurbished one, but I was extremely frustrated with my current one, so we took it.

It's been just about a month and it crashed!!! I called technical support where they go through all of the things to try to get it to work, but nothing helps. So again I have to send it in.

They send me a box, complete with packaging. I package the laptop, like I have done MANY times before and send it back.

I receive an email saying that my LCD was received damaged and it would cost $265 to repair. I explained that it WASN'T shipped that way, but since I didn't take a time dated picture before I sent it, they refuse to repair it!!

I have talked to customer service, who refused to repair it, so I requested to speak with a supervisor. They all refused to get me a supervisor or anyone higher that I could review my case with.

Why in the world would I pay $265 to repair a computer that didn't even last 2 months??? They already received my money for the first laptop, and I STILL don't have one that works.

I am so tired with Toshiba, they will NEVER get another penny from me!

DONT BUY A TOSHIBA LAPTOP!

  • I FIRST PURCHASED A TOSHIBA IN 1997. SINCE THEN I HAVE OWNED TOSHIBA LAPTOPS. I WAS DUE FOR A NEW ONE IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. IT IS NOW JUNE 29TH AND I AM ON MY 4TH LAPTOP. STARTED WITH ORDERING FROM BEST BUY, THEN EXERCISED MY DOWNGRADE RIGHTS TO 7 PRO. ISSUE WITH SPEED MADE ME RETURN. I HAVE SINCE HAD A S850, A TECRA AND NOW A P870. THIS COMPUTER IS 10 DAYS IN MY HANDS AND HAVE ALREADY HAD TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS PER TOSHIBA'S "FILIPINO" SUPPORT TEAM" WHAT A JOKE!!! NO ONE WANTS TO HELP, I GET THE RUN AROUND AND TRANSFERRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEN THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME TO HELP WITH A COMPUTER THAT IS 10 DAYS OLD. I HAVE NEVER, AND I MEAN, N-E-V-E-R HAD SUCH A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE THAN WITH TOSHIBA SUPPORT. I HAVE GONE 50+ HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH TOSHIBA AND MICROSOFT AND I AM STILL LEFT OUT TO DRY. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS EXERCISE MY DOWNGRADE RIGHTS, I HAD BEEN GIVEN A WIN 7 PRO KEY THAT TURNED OUT TO BE BLOCKED, AND WHEN I CONTACTED TOSHIBA, IT TOOK ALMOST 2 HOURS TO GET AN ANSWER OF "YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT MICROSOFT. I CALL MICROSOFT AND THEY SAID THAT MY OS KEY IS VALID, BUT BLOCKED AND I HAVE TO CALL TOSHIBA. I HAVE NEVER, IN MY LIFE, HAD TO DEAL WITH AN UNBELIEVABLY RUDE, CONDESCENDING GROUP OF PEOPLE AS I HAVE WITH TOSHIBA SUPPORT. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND USA CULTURE AND BUSINESS ACUMEN. COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME AND THAT COMES AT A PRICE. I SPENT TWO DAYS, WITH NO SLEEP, TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO HELP ME EITHER DOWNGRADE OR FIX ISSUES...THE END RESULT WAS I RECEIVED NOTHING! I CONTACTED TOSHIBA CORPORATE AND AN EXTREMELY RUDE LADY TOLD ME TO "RETURN YOUR COMPUTER AND GO BUY A DELL". WAIT....WUT??? AFTER BUYING MY FIRST TOSHIBA LAPTOP IN 1997, AND NOW OWNING 6 TOTAL, WIFE AND KIDS HAVE THEM, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOSHIBA PRODUCT AGAIN.!!!!! I HAVE BEEN IN SALES FOR OVER 23 YEARS, IF ANY OF MY EMPLOYEES SPOKE TO AND DIDN'T OFFER HELP TO MY CUSTOMERS...THEY WOULD BE FIRED ON THE SPOT. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE BEYOND WORDS RELATING TO THE LACK OF SUPPORT AND THEN TOSHIBA CORPORATE TELLING ME TO RETURN IT AND GO BUY A DELL??????? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!! BTW- WITH ALL THIS STRESS OF HAVING TO GET MY LAPTOP TO FUNCTION AND GIVEN NO HELP BY TECH SUPPORT, SPENDING OVER 50+ HOURS ON THE PHONE BEGGING FOR HELP, I HAVE LOST 25 LBS AND CANNOT SLEEP SOME NIGHTS JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW ANOTHER HUMAN CAN TREAT ME LIKE I HAVE BEEN TREATED.

Toshiba has no manners...

I've had this toshiba for four years. All repairs I had to make myself through out the years (Thank god I'm computer savy). Recently I had to reinstall windows because of a bug. I did a clean sweep and wiped the harddrive. Upon reinstall, I was told I had 30 days to activate the windows with the product key. Here's the funny part... TOSHIBA NEVER SENT IT! I called microsoft and was told by the dicks in India that they would not help me and forwarded me to Toshia's customer service.

I sat on hold for 20 minutes. Spoke to a guy named Rob who hung up as soon as I mentioned the words "Product key". I thought it was my phone so I called back and then spoke to a girl named Sara. She did exactly what her coworker did, hung up. I do not know if this is what they are trained to do, but I plan on paying their HQ a nice visit.

This is why Apple is on top. I never was one to follow suit and join the Apple sensation. However, I am now considering switching over and getting a Macbook.

Worst Support for 3D TV

I bought a 42tl515u 3d television from toshiba in february of 2012, well in march of 2013 my tv suddenly had no response from the remote, and this annoying flickering. Seems a little funny that just over a year that an $950 tv would start acting up. I called customer support and the best they could come up with is I needed to buy a new system board for it. Really? $850 for one years worth of a tv? well I took it apon myself to update the firmware using the cisco related update, and to my surprise, the flickering stopped and the remote was back to normal. The a$$hole tried selling me a part I didnt even need! well here it is in May, and the damn flickering started again and no further firmware updates are available. Is toshitba deliberatly trying to sabotage their business by putting out crap like this and no proper support or solutions? Oh and another thing is when I tried getting an email verification 5 DAYS AGO to post on their forums, I still have no verification email. I WILL NEVER BUY TOSHIBA AGAIN! I would have been better off buying a cheap a$$ Visio!!!!!!

Run dont Walk from Toshiba

Purchased a toshiba satelite computer on November 26 2012. Son purchased it with his own money to use for school work. He used it very sparingly as he has several other technology devices. February 2012 computer is now a little over 2 months old and he uses it one night and the next night he opens it up and turns it on and there is vertical stripes running down the screen. I was in the room when he powered it down and sat it on the shelf and was again in the room when he took it out. He did nothing that would have damaged anything. Charged $26.00 to send to Toshiba and was provided materials that wouldnt be fit to send anything safely, but it was the opiton recommended by them. Twenty days later I receive an email in my inbox that is addressed to someone else telling the person LCD damage and will be charged $266.00 to repair.

I have explained to them that we DID NOTHING except to use the computer normal and with respect to cause any type of damage. That is their stance. They are saying that LCD damage was done by us. I have spoken to several computer techs and they have told me that there is alot of ways the LCD can go bad in this manner and consumer neglect is one of them but there is alot of other ways it can be damaged. I have filed with BBB and plan on taking this to the extreme. I find it unacceptable that Toshiba should be allowed to get away with this type of tactics. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Lack of Customer service

I bought a Toshiba satelite computer in August 2012. I have had to send it back to get a new camera installed. It came back and had a clicking noise when moving the screen. Suddenly the side of the screen split open and so I sent it back in. Now they want to charge me to fix it. They refuse to return my telephone calls even though they ask one to leave a case number and telephone number. Seems to me Toshiba has terrible customer service. Surely the first thing would be to return customer calls. Reading other posts on this page shows I should have first checked up on Toshiba's customer service before buying one.

i purchased a toshiba, loved it, but then about 3 months later the harddrive went out, spent 4 hours on the phone with tech support. They decided to have me send it off, they then sent it back 2 weeks later, with the same problem, i then had to send it back, i just recieved AGAIN and the usb ports are not working. They are replacing it, Toshiba's customer support is very rude, and not very understand or helpful. They do not care about customer feedback. BUT i am going to downsize their company every way possible. DID you know, that the software on any toshiba computer is not covered under the warranty, only the hardware. They have anohter company make software for them, so they do not cover software. Thei name is on the product so in reality they should cover all problems.

Ok so you are butthurt

Seriously, I have had problems with my Toshiba laptops before and sent them in for repairs and was NEVER charged for shipping, I think you guys are sending your stuff off to the WRONG people or your warranties expired and you are complaining about nothing. Yes toshibas have a fatal heating problem, that is why ANYONE with computer savvy will tell you to get somthing else or make sure you have a cooling station. Do your homework before buying somthing, Toshiba has an A+ rating because those that do their homework and support their own machines do what is necessary to keep their computers functioning. In the world today NO product is designed to last more than 2 years, I have a toshiba from 2009 and with the overheating issue, it fried my wireless and graphics card, i sent it in free of charge and got it fixed FREE even after my warranty had expired when the wireless card was damaged again i sent it in free and they fixed it, it has happened 2 times and it is starting its third time, I am about to ship it back again for free and get it repaired again, and everytime i have sent it in i have checked and they dont bother repairing the part its a new part each time. Stop your whining and boycotting and get some common sense, if you feel wronged do somthing about it instead of whining and somthing will get done.

L775D - "D" for DOORSTOP

I purchased a Toshiba Laptop in Dec 2011 immediately the AMD graphics driver would fail and then recover, freezing the video with the sound still going, and then the screen would flash and the computer would recover. It would also freeze the video with the sound still running and the driver would not reset and you had to turn the laptop off. This happened daily and with any application used (internet, word, etc). I returned it to the Toshiba repair center and they put in a new motherboard. Came back with the same problem. During telephone troubleshooting and resetting to factory setting, the hard drive crashed. Returned with video and hard drive issues...hard drive fixed. Returned a third time for the same video problems and the system was returned, outside the warranty period, with the problem still not fixed. Called Toshiba and there is no warranty period after a repair. They offered to try and fix it again "as a courtesy" but that would have cost me another $30 to send it to them...that's right if their product is broken the consumer pays $30 to return it for repair. NEVER NEVER AGAIN GOING TO BUY A TOSHIBA PRODUCT!!

Good luck with this. if you have not figured yet. The quality screams cheap production unit. Furthermore, if a company like Walmart sells it, then it's probably a garbage unit as with most things sold at Walmart. These companies just keep doing the same over and over year after year. This would be true because they make there products available so cheaply consumers keep buying it.

If you buy a Toshiba, erase everything on it before you use it and load only the drivers ad software to operate the unit. It will work much faster and more effeciant. Toshiba loads so much useless crap that it slows the system, locks it up or shuts down by itself.

Hello, I have read all of your comments and statements. It is not any better dealing with Toshiba. I am not going to back down from my case, and I feel that we all need to stand united. I recently shipped a laptop in for repair, paid 24.95$, and when the item returned, it was not REPAIRED!!!!! I ended up being told that I had 30 days to ship it AGAIN! Or I would be forced to pay 24.95$, it was not possible. Now, the representatives want me to pay again, ship the piece of crap in, and deal with it. I was literally told by one rep that I need to learn to accept what Toshiba offers, and deal with it! WORSE CUSTOMER CARE EVER, I am going to create a blog, and I already began blowing up their facebook page with comments and complaints. I got a little attention, but things need to change D:.

Toshiba Customer Service Sucks - 12/22/12 10:07 AM

Toshiba Customer Service Sucks

I'm posting this on every available website so that other consumers will not make the mistake I did by buying a Toshiba laptop.

I purchased a Satellite P845t-S4310 as a birthday present for my daughter. Right out of the sealed box, the touchscreen did not work. I called their technical support number and was first told that the laptop was NOT touchscreen capable. I pointed out that the specs on their website said it was and there was a sticker on the laptop saying it was a touchscreen.

After a couple of different calls, I was able to get them to agree to fix it under warranty. The received the laptop on 11/28/12. On 11/30/12 their repair status website showed the laptop as having been repaired. After a week of waiting for it to return, I called them again and asked the status. They said it was, in fact, not repaired.

Another week goes by and I call again. This time I was told they were waiting on parts that would not come in until 12/14/12. I called on that date and was told the parts would not be in until 12/17/12. I called on 12/19, 12/20 and 12/21 and each time was told they would check the status and call me back. They didn't. Finally they told me that the one part had come in, but now they were waiting on another part.

To date, I still have not gotten my laptop back.

Principal to Toshiba's customer service failure, is their ridiculous hierarchy. You first talk to a person that is completely ill-equipped to solve your problem. Then your call is “escalated” to a “case manager” who is only marginally more adept. Here's where the breakdown gets worse. It is very unlikely that you will ever speak to that same case manager again. Which means you don't have anyone who is “invested” in providing a solution. You have to explain everything over and over again.

Additionally, the case managers have no authority to make the necessary decisions to resolve issues. Plus, they will not let you talk to anyone higher up the chain. In my case, I asked that they just send me a replacement laptop. After all, mine was broken out of the box (or was manufactured to the wrong specs). They gave me the runaround saying that enough time hadn't passed to authorized that kind of action. When asked how much time needed to pass, they said it was handled on a case by case basis. When asked why my case didn't warrant that action, they said that because parts were on order, they couldn't authorize a replacement. I asked what they would do if the product was irreparable. They said they would provide a replacement. I asked how long I have to wait for a part before they deem the repair time as too lengthy. The said one week. I asked how that time frame was determined. The said, you guessed it, on a case by case basis. I asked who makes that decision. They said a upper level case manager. I asked to speak to one of those people. They said, “it's not our policy.”

Bottom line: DO NOT BUY A TOSHIBA LAPTOP

Look at all the negative comments regarding this company. Years ago, they used to be a leader in laptop design, sales and service. Not anymore.

It's not just the US

It's not just the US where they are rubbish.

Bought a flagship Qosmio in Mar 2011 by Jan 2012 it was constantly shutting down but I needed it for work as I work from home as a Community Manager and didnt have the funds to just go out and buy another gaming capable laptop. Called Toshiba who booked it in to head office as the heat had been hot enough to burn on the final occasion before I rang. There was also cracking to the rear left vent GPU vent this is caused by excessive heat.

Toshiba wanted to billfor the cracking but told them not to bother, they also wanted to charge for repairing the unit as they blamed it on "too much use" really toshiba an £1800 laptop you advertise as a desktop replacement is nto intended for everyday use and gaming.

Toshiba did make the repairs and sent it back to me a month later. When it arrived back there was a green flicker all over the screen if at a particular angle this was annoying but liveable with as I needed it for work.

June 2012 machine stops booting after trouble shooting this was found to be a failed 2nd hard drive, Toshiba sent me out a replacement.

November 2012 the green flicker that the unit had been sent back with has been getting worse and worse to the point now that the laptop had to be at extreme angles to stop the flicker, the replacement hard drive sounds like a helicopter and the blu ray drive has done about 10% burn success since getting it back from Toshiba in May.

Toshiba took the laptop in again and tested the green flicker problem which they attributed to a damaged GPU, there was no mention of testing the HD or the blu ray so once again they got a call and assured me these would have been tested so I have requested the full engineers report which I still havent recieved 2 weeks later.

As of this moment my laptop is still with Toshiba and despite them calling to get my windows password a password that I had given them at the time of reporting the faults the unit is still flagged as awaiting part.

The apssword issue really doesnt surprise me considering it took 9 month and 30+ calls/emails/letters before they finally put the corret contact details on y account despite providing them each and every time.

19 month of ownership, 2 month spent with Toshiba or sat here broken (2nd hd issue), 7 month not working as intended.

If it is not immaculately working when I finally get it back it is being taken to store and returned under the sales of goods act and will just go to court to try and get full value rather than the value the retailer wants to provide. This wasn't a £200 laptop is £1800 of Toshiba's flagship model and has been nothing but problems why should I lose money to "wear and use" when its only been used for 10 month of 19 month and a replacement at the level I need woud cost £1800 once again.

Although I hate the fact that here in the UK we have to take it up with the retailer and not Toshiba.

Toshiba Breaches ServiceGuard contract - 11/2/12 1:53 PM

Toshiba Breaches ServiceGuard contract

I requested that my Toshiba laptop be repaired and returned, at no cost to me. The repair is covered by the additional System Guard protection that I purchased when I bought the laptop. In the alternative, I must request that the laptop and the System Guard plan be refunded to me entirely.

I contacted Toshiba on approximately October 14, 2012 when I discovered a small crack in the casing. I purchased the laptop about one month earlier. I was told that due to the fact I had purchased System Guard, the repair would be completed at no cost. I obeyed all instructions, including sending the laptop to the repair facility using the mailing materials that Toshiba provided.

On October 29, 2012, I checked the repair status online. It was indicated that my warranty did not cover the repair, and there is an indication that I needed to pay $175.99 to complete the repairs.

I immediately telephoned Toshiba at the number provided on your repair status web site. I was forced to remain on the phone for 45 minutes, most of which was spent on a series of successive holds.

Toshiba’s representatives “Raw” and “Gen” confirmed that my System Guard protection covered the repair. I was nevertheless asked to phone in again on October 30. I explained that I am unable to call again due to the fact that I am tied up in meetings every day this week, with limited access to a telephone. Plus, after spending 45 minutes on the telephone already, at the instruction of Toshiba, I did not want to waste more time on a phone call. This is especially true when there is no dispute that System Guard covers the repair.

I requested an email address to correspond with Toshiba. Both Raw and Gen refused to provide me with an email address. This is unfair due to the fact that Toshiba and its repair facility regularly use emails to send messages to me. For instance, I received an email on the morning of October 30, noting the $175.99 allegedly needed to complete the repair.

It is unduly burdensome and unfair for Toshiba to avail itself of emails to make demands of me, while at the same time requiring that I telephone times to explain the problem anew to each person I speak with (as I was forced to do on October 29.) I need the same convenience of email, as Toshiba provides to itself.

I am astonished that Toshiba makes it so burdensome to obtain Toshiba’s compliance with the System Guard plan that Toshiba sold to me. Toshiba makes these repairs as burdensome and costly as possible, by erroneously charging me for the repairs, by making my phone call as difficult as possible, by requesting that I call in a second time when there are no new facts or developments, and by Toshiba’s decision that our communications must be one-sided, i.e., that Toshiba enjoys the benefit and convenience of sending me demands by email, but refuses me an opportunity to respond by email.

I need this laptop for my work. I must insist that Toshiba complete the repair and return the unit to me immediately. If Toshiba continues to refuse, I request a full and immediate refund.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am attaching a draft complaint that I will file next week. I regret having to file legal action, but Toshiba's breach of its contract to repair the laptop, and Toshiba's refusal to engage me in a discussion about the issue, leave me no choice. Please advise whether the final complaint may be served by mail or email, to avoid the additional cost for personal service. All such costs and fees, including the filing fee and my professional time as an attorney, may be sought in the lawsuit as well. Irvine, CA 92618-1697

Laptop scratched during repair but Toshiba claims whole laptop was scratched when received

Toshiba scratched the top of my laptop but claims the whole laptop was scratched up when they received it. The funny part is that the laptop is still in perfect condition with the exception of a comestic mark that i reported on the shipping form. The only change was that there is now an oval scratch on the top cover.

Here is the result of my BBB complaint that I filed in Irvine California:

Complaint ID: 98713400

Complaint Classification:

Complaint Description - Posted 8/20/2012 1:37:11 PM

On 07/16/12 I shipped my laptop to Toshiba's Notebook repair depot for a warranty repair. On the packing slip that was provided I responded to the question "Plastics Damaged or Scratched?" with "Slight cosmetic mark on hard drive cover". I received the repaired laptop back on 07/25. When I opened the shipping box I found that the top of the laptop had a oval shaped scratch on it which was not there prior to shipment. I contacted TAIS on 07/25 and reported the new damage. I did not hear anything for a week so I called back, a new case was opened. I still didn’t hear anything for another week or 2 so I called back a 2nd time. I was told at that point that , because it was noted that the plastics was damaged, that TAIS would not repair the new damaged. I contacted Toshiba's Executive Escalations . He again told me that the top of the laptop would not be repaired since it was noted that the laptop was received damaged. I then attempted to reach the head of customer relations, She has not returned my calls. What I am requesting is that the NEW DAMAGE done to the laptop be repaired. I am not asking for anything be done to the existing cosmetic mark that was referred to on the packing slip. On 08/17, CB indicated that according to the docs received the unit had scratches, labels peeled off and screen was scratched, this is totally inaccurate. The original price sticker is still adhered to the machine. Photos and videos available upon request.

Complaint Summary

Laptop damaged during repair. Toshiba refuses to correct. States laptop was recvd damaged.

Resolution Sought

Replace damaged top of laptop.

As stated in my original complaint, the company response is completely inaccurate. The unit was otherwise in perfect condition. When I received the laptop back it was still in the same condition as before it was shipped, with the exception of the scratch on the top of the unit. Labels are all intact, including the original price sticker that is still on the bottom of the unit, No additional scratches anywhere. How to Report Toshiba

Start out by reporting to the following at the same time:

http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Computer-Dealers-Retail/Toshiba-America-Information-Systems-Inc-in-Irvine-CA-41153

http://www.bbb.org/

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/computers/toshiba.html

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Toshiba-sucks/103983663031497#!/pages/Toshiba-sucks/103983663031497?sk=wall

Toshiba will only be aware that you reported them to the bbb and while the bbb is investigating, the others can build their cases too. Only ask for a full refund because everything toshiba builds is garbage.

If this doesn't work report Toshiba to the following:

http://ag.ca.gov/contact/complaint_form.php?cmplt=CL

http://www.justice.gov/contact-us.html

http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php

Since Toshiba is based out of California, you don't have to live in California to report to Toshiba. Although, you first report to your state Attorney General and follow up with calls and written responses. Then you report to the California Attorney General and follow up with phone calls (when calling after the last option, wait a second and then they will give you the option of talking to the Attorney General's office.) Make sure you call to you get someone.

If this doesn't work, contact your local news stations and every national news station and every PC magazine and consumer report magazine you can think off. At the very least you are putting paper on Toshiba and it will be much harder for them to hurt others.

What have you done against Toshiba!

If you think you are powerless against Toshiba, you would be wrong. Your words can travel around the world in a second. Use them. You have youtube, facebook, consumer affairs, the ftc, better business bureau, various computer magazines, consumer magazines, and you have local news. Like rape victims, if you don't report Toshiba, no one will do anything. You have to report Toshiba, and if one person doesn't do anything report to that person again and again, and report to othe people too. If you don't report Toshiba, no one will know. There are a million links on this site. At the bottom of the site it shows how Toshiba got involved in nuclear power so it can kill people with nuclear radiation. Toshiba has it's hands in everything and it is up to you to expose Toshiba.

They got me using the old UPS-GUYLUGO trick!

I BOUGHT A TOSHIBA LAPTOP 10/2011 AT OFFICE MAX IN MEMPHIS,TN.THE END OF LAST MONTH I SENT IT IN UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT STAY ON.WHEN THEY RECIEVED THE UNIT THEY SAID THE OPERATING SYSTEM WAS GONE AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM TO GET IT PUT BACK ON.I ASKED THEM HOW IS THE OPERATING SYSTEM GONE AND I SENT IT IN BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT STAY ON.SO THEY SO CALLED WAIVED THE FEE THAT THEY WAS TRYING TO CHARGE ME AND SENT MY UNIT BACK AND SAID IT WAS FIXED.THE SAME DAY I RECIEVED MY UNIT BACK IT ONCE AGAIN SHUT DOWN ON ME AND WOULD NOT EVEN TURN BACK ON. I SENT IT BACK TO THE REPAIR PEOPLE AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT IS LIQUID DAMAGE ON THE MOTHER BOARD. I ASKED THEM IF IT IS LIQUID DAMAGE HOW COME YOU ALL DID NOT SEE IT WHEN I SENT IT IN THE FIRST TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT OPEN IT UP THE FIRST TIME. THE LAPTOP HAS NEVER BEEN ANY WHERE NEAR ANY TYPE OF LIQUID NOR DID I TOUCH IT WITH WET HANDS, I BELIEVE THAT IT IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED THERE AT THE REPAIR SHOP. NOW THEY TELL ME THAT IT WILL COST ME 210.00 TO REPLACE MY MOTHER BOARD WHEN IT IS NO FAULT OF MINE OF THE LIQUID DAMAGE.THAT IT IS ON THIER BEHALF OF THE LIQUID DAMAGE AND THEN THEY SAY I CAN'T DESPUTE IT THAT PAY THE REPAIR COST OR THEY WILL SEND IT BACK AS THEY RECIEVED IT!!!THEY DID NOT EVEN FIX IT THE FIRST IME I SENT IT IN AND NOW THEY STILL WON'T FIX IT AND TRYING TO CHARGE ME ONCE AGAIN FOR REPAIRS.

P.S. Toshiba now tries to make you pay for shipping there defective equipment and then claims that you spilled a liquid on the computer. They claim this because they know it's very hard to disprove. I say you set up a sting. Try to get law enforcement or an attorney to help you verify the condition of the computer, so when you send it and Toshiba claims warranty damage, you have them dead to rights. I hope this helps.

What to do!

There is a lot of information on this website, but the most important thing you can do is send this website's link to 100 people and report Toshiba to 100 people. If you do that, you will have your revenge against Toshiba. It will take a bit of work, but it will work! The majority of the links to report toshiba are on this website including:

FTC

facebook pages

Better Business Bureau

PC Magazine

and et cetera.

The question is are you going to take the time to report them or are you going to let others share your fate?

I received the Toshiba UPS-GUYLUGO treatment!

Okay, I just typed this and it was erased after pushing "submit." Laptop: we had it loaded and after 45 days the screen went all crazy. Our computer tech checked and it worked on an independent monitor. We sent it in using their special $25 shipping. I was told it had internal damage. No way. They were unwilling to work with us and we have no recourse. They want $265 to fix a brand new laptop.

Here is the number to call UPS to report that Toshiba is committing shipping fraud.

Have your lawyer get the records from the California AG in 2010 that show Toshiba commits warranty fraud and the FTC has records in August of 2011 that show Toshiba commits warranty fraud.

another victim of Toshiba

I purchased a Toshiba Laptop, based upon their email advertisement. I was attracted by the $299.00 offer due to my limited disability income. During my conversation with the sales agent, I was ASSURED that the model was the same as the one I previously owned, and was programmed with the basics; access to the Internet as well as Word Processing. Due to the isolation often accompanied with disability, I stressed the essential need for the basics, which allow for networking; obtaining information not always disclosed by Human Services; and the availability of home-based sources of income. I was also assured it was new, and not refurbished. I naively trusted the integruity of Toshiba, altho the sales rep continuously skirted my questions, by referring to the last day of the sale, which it was not. Upon receiving the laptop, it was obvious that it was NOT NEW; the protective film on the screen was absent, and with use of the product, several quirks included the spontaneous opening and closing of windows, and uncontrollable movements of the cursor. Worst of all, was the limited sample use of Word, which requires an expensive purchase of a producy key for future use. I can no longer access my documents. which is incomprehensible! As a remedy, I am demanding the product key free of charge at minimum. Sincerely, Barbara Peradeze. I anxiously await your reply. The level of stress triggers a flare-up of intolerable symptoms as well.

More Toshiba Fraud - 5/20/12 2:13 AM

More Toshiba Fraud

I barely had my Toshiba laptop L755 two months when the life of my battery became shorter and shorter. I also never received a manual, discs or anything like that, only a catalog of other fine Toshiba products and a warranty card. I called their so-called support to get a replacement battery; after all, not only was this a new laptop (not refurbished), but also I was under full warranty. The tech guy was hard to understand, thick accent and he became frustrated when I kept asking to repeat himself. But anyway, he had me do a lot of troubleshooting and decided that it was the battery. Duh! Then he told me that he would send me one if I would provide a card number that will be run if I did not return the faulty battery. I thought that was acceptable. Big mistake. He not only ran my card, but then told me they couldn't accept debit. He told me to either borrow a credit card or apply for one and then call back. I asked him was I or was I not under full warranty. He admitted I was. I told him I only had a debit which is tied into my checking, which my paycheck is deposited twice a month. He then told me that I needed a credit card if I wanted my battery replaced and it wasn't his fault I was lower class and couldn't get a credit card. I filed with the BBB and the rep for Toshiba, Julie something, no one important, only in her mind. He had the nerve to state that in the paperwork on page such and such, and listed a bunch of crap that the tech had never told me, but claimed he had done so. And that there was nothing Toshiba would do, unless I was prepared to shell out $155 for a battery. I don't understand this. I'm under full warranty. Hell, they can send a tech to me if they wanted. When I had my Dell desktop, I did not only got my replacement parts for free, but they contracted a PC tech to come to my house and repair my Dell. I wished I bought a Dell laptop! And Toshiba can learn a thing or two from Dell about customer service. I really hate Toshiba!

The UPS-GUYLUGO scam strikes again! - 5/18/12 3:26 PM

The UPS-GUYLUGO scam strikes again!

Recently, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5200 laptop computer. Several months ago, the keyboard suddenly stopped functioning. I contacted the manufacturer, Toshiba, and they opened a repair ticket for the computer. I was required by their company to pay a $25 shipping charge for UPS to deliver the machine to their repair depot. I paid the cost and sent the computer in for repair. Approximately two weeks later, I contacted them for the status of their service and at that time they informed me that they believed that the damage was caused by "spillage" which they also said was my fault and that they would charge me $325 to replace the keyboard. When I purchased the computer new from Walmart, it only cost $330, plus state sales tax. Paying $325 to Toshiba to repair the device was out of the question. Besides, I never spilled anything on the computer at all, so it definitely was not my fault that it did not work. Hence, I demanded that they immediately return the laptop to me so I could take it to an independent repair center. Now, when I received the computer back from the company, it would not turn on at all. When I sent it to them, originally, it did boot up. The keyboard just stopped working. Now when they returned it to me, it did not work at all!

It's funny in a way. After I complained to the BBB and to ALL Toshiba numbers I could get a hold of they send me a survey to rank my experience. . . and did I rank them!

About 2 days latter I get a weird email stating that Toshiba can not help me via eMail and I would have to call their Tech-Support. According to the Header, it was from the survey no-reply email address.

They sure not only screw up the customer/tech services, but can't keep simple track of emails, especially the no-reply surveys??

I sold all of my Toshiba Products or traded with people. I don't want NOTHING in my house that says the word "Toshiba".

Do NOT do business with Toshiba

My harddrive and fan went bad on the Toshiba laptop that I'd purhcase a little over a year ago. I had purchased the restore discs a few months earlier, but it turns out that disc 2 was unreadable. Since it had been over a month since the purchase, they would not send me another set; they said I had to repurchase them, do I did. But, a half hour later, I found another way and tried to cancel the order. Toshiba said that all sales were final, so I'm having to contact Mastercard and have them cancel the order. Toshiba is simply slimy. DO NOT do business with them!

UPS-GUYLUGO

Whenever you write a complaint about Toshiba, reference the UPS-GUYLUGO initiative. Basically, Toshiba was using UPS' name to commit warranty fraud, saying UPS did an investigation and determined the consumer shipped the package damaged. Toshiba used to break the screen and blame it on the consumer. Now, Toshiba pours water on the computer. This is also why Toshiba charges $25 for a box to send you laptop to them. Toshiba lost their special account with UPS. If you have shipped with UPS to Toshiba, and they tried to pull this stunt, here is UPS' real contact number and address, that 1-800 b.s. will get you nowhere.

Their TV's Are Just as Bad as Their Laptops

I purchased a 55" LED TV in December of 2011 as a family Christmas gift, but didn't set it up until January 10, 2012. It worked for about a week, then it started to cycle through all possible resolutions and sound profiles continuously, making it completely unusable.

After fighting with their warranty division, I was finally able to schedule a repair. TFirst week of February, a technician came on-site and replaced the main board. The problem is, when they pull the ribbon-cable off the board, little plastic tabs break off of them and they can no longer be properly aligned with the recepticle. The tech said that Toshiba refuses to send cables with the boards, even though they KNOW the are not reusable. Outcome: no fix.

Three weeks later (beginning of March), the tech returns. Again, he brings a main board with NO CABLE. Outcome: no fix.

Two weeks later tech comes for a third time; this time, he robbed a cable from another customer's parts to bring with the main board he planned on changing for the third time. Outcome: worked for one week, then started doing the same thing again.

Called customer support. First tier agent said "We'll schedule you for another service call, OK?" I told her it was most definitely NOT OK, and had it escalated to a customer laison once again. They excalated it to a case manager. After waiting for over a week, they called back and said they could offer me a refurbished unit replacement...unacceptable; a full-price upgrade to a 60" for the paltry sum of $900 additional...unacceptable, or a refund.

I obviously jumped at the refund offer and told them I would be using the money to purchase a quality product like a Sony or an LG. At the conclusion of the call, I told the manager that I had to go now and get on every social networking site and internet site I could google and warn people to NEVER...EVER buy a Toshiba product. The hardware is poorly built, undependable, and the customer support is non-existent.

PLEASE! DON'T EVER BUY A TOSHIBA PRODUCT! You will be nothing but sorry if you do.

Toshiba Suck!

Complaint: 03/19/2012: I have sent this computer to Toshiba for the second time since Christmas of 2011 the first time it was sent back to me with what they say was a brand new hard drive installed it still did not work properly so was sent back the second time for repair now they are telling me the screen is broken and they want me to pay another $325 to fix it I haven't gotten 3 weeks worth of usage out of this product because it is faulty and now I have no computer because I am not responsible for the mail or delivery issues and if the screen is broken it happened after it left my house and on the way back to them. The service department basically said go take a walk and we are not going to fix your computer after several phone conversations so this has left me with no choice except to write a formal complaint and take to small claims court I would just like a product that I can use or the product that I bought to be fixed.

Business response: A TAIS representative has been in contact with our customer. TAIS has apologized for any inconvenience and has assisted the customer by authorizing a one time repair with our engineers for the out of scope damage to the LCD screen (out of scope means that it would not generally be covered under the warranty). The customer should receive a box with return shipping labels in 3-5 business days. At this time we consider this matter closed.

Consumer rebuttal: yes a toshiba representative did contact me and has said my computer will be fixed or replaced and I am very happy with that rseoluton.that is all I want is the product purchased to work properly

Toshiba is scared to death that people will find out how they operate. It's simple. You buy a laptop, it breaks, and you have to ship it back. They try to charge you for shipping because they probably lost their special account with UPS because they used UPS' name to commit warranty fraud. When You ship the laptop to Toshiba, they say you damaged it, and they want to charge you to fix it. The federal trade commission knows this because Congressman John Dingell filed a complaint against them. Once in awhile, you can get the government to do something, but it's rare. You are going to have to write tons of e-mails and fight like hell, but Toshiba can be brought down. The following link might help. Toshiba sure would like people to forget about this guy! http://consumerist.com/2010/04/reach-toshiba-executive-customer-service.html#comments

Toshiba has a lot of things they would like to forget about. They are probably trying to bribe the BBB.ORG. In each letter you send to the BBB.ORG, include that you know Toshiba has a record with the California AG and you know about their little shipping fraud scam with UPS. It will probably put Toshiba on edge. It will take a bit of reading, but there is plenty of info on this site on how to get back at Toshiba.

I read this comment in consumer affairs and it is a fake. The person who put this comment in is an employee of toshiba. Do not buy Toshiba, they will rip you off and they put equipment in their computers to spy on you. Wilson of Council Bluffs, IA on March 4, 2012 Satisfaction Rating: 5/5

I have had my Toshiba L775D laptop for over a month now. To date, my experience with my Toshiba laptop has been nothing but superb! It is a wonderful computer, granted it has some shortcomings due to the price. Overall, I can safely say that my experience has been superb with both the laptop, and Toshiba's wonderful customer service representatives. The one time I had to call in, not only was the representative pleasant, but she kindly got my missing piece out to me, and even gave me a good discount towards any accessory (accessories) that I would like to purchase from their online store. I decided to submit this comment only for the reason that, a good review site for any aspect of any product, should have both a thoroughly accurate and painfully unbiased review delivery structure, so that any potential buyers of such product or the product's brand may not be scared off.

Don't believe fake comments, toshiba is in the business of spying on you and ripping you off.

Their coustmer service sucks also

NEVER BUY TOSHIBA repeat never buy Toshiba, we bought a Toshiba TV last weekend at FRY's for Krista it was a floor model and we got an awesome price on it. Got it home and hooked it up and it worked great till Monday morning, then all the fun began. Called for technical support and was told the TV was out of warranty even though I had just bought it on Saturday, so I had to deal with the warranty ...dept to get that fixed. Well waited till Friday to call them back because that was when the remote I had to purchase arrived, I was then told that it was registered under a different name and the person lived in NY. So now I have to wait another 24 hours for the computers to update with my info, called today and they had the name correct but was still in NY. Now they go ahead and correct the address and then start to try and fix the TV, it is determined that the TV will have to shipped of to be fixed now get this AT MY EXPENSE I have to pay for the shipping. On my way back to FRY's now to see what they will do about this. Well Fry's replaced it with a brand new one right out of the box(they kept the box to return mine in). This was all on Feb. 11th I bought the TV on the 4th, they just called me today Feb 20th 7 days after I returned the Tv and still had the wrong name on the warrenty.

Complaint: 12/09/2011: We had a Toshiba laptop that had a computer issue contacted Toshiba about repair paid the 25.00 shipping cost to send it to them. Toshiba contacted us about the computer claiming that it was a liquid dmg issue it was not near any liquids when it quit working they offered to repair this laptop at a cost of 320.00 the purchase price of the laptop new was only approximately 300.00 when we tried to complain about the cost of the repair the customer services rep (non customer service) was rude and kind of hostile. We told them that we were not going to pay more than the cost of the computer to repair it at which time we ended the call. We called back a short time later and asked to speak with a supervisor in which we got told there were none available we advised them that we would like to discuss this before we contacted consumer reports to complain at which time we got told this conversation is over and got hung up on.

Business response: A TAIS representative has been in contact with our customer on 12/08/2011. TAIS has informed the customer that the described issue is not covered by the manufacture standard limited warranty because it’s considered physical damage. The repair is now the responsibility of the customer. At this time we consider this matter closed.

You cannot reason with Toshiba. They are in the business of selling you faulty equipment and now they have to charge you to send it back because they used the name of the company they shipped with as cover for their warranty fraud scheme and so much pressure was put on that company that Toshiba is stuck with it's current situation of charging people $25 to send back faulty equipment. There is plenty of information on this website with regards to reporting toshiba. You should also report Toshiba to your local congressman and senators, it will do a world of good. I agree with all of you. My Toshiba laptop M11 hardrive died in 8 months. Could not be recovered. The Tablet hangs up and can not even get 4 hrs battery life. Their RADREX X-ray system has the poorest image quality. Japan would only address the issue after 40 hospitals complained and the saleforce stopped selling the product. Upper management is lost and the company is heading south.

Toshiba for Christmas?

Hey ladies and Gentleman, if your looking to buy someone a gift for Christmas, you can't go wrong with a Toshiba, look how well they take care of their customers.

Complaint: 11/14/2011: About ten month ago mu husband and I purchased Toshiba Satellite A660 Series laptop serial # XA539202K. For the amount of money the we paid, we believed that we got top of the line laptop. . About month after the purchase, we had an issue of restarting and starting Windows. Issue continued about once of each month. We called a Toshiba customer service and all the technical support recommended is to reboot the whole system. Last time that incident happen is on 11/07/2011 after which we couldn’t start the windows any more. When I called customer technical support, I was told that warranty expired (which is not true) and that I can send the laptop to the out of warranty repair. Well, why this never been suggested while we previously called about the problem. (When we apparently had a warranty). My husband and I reached the frustration point and intend to file multiple complaints. Some people just don’t have a luxury to buy and pay for computer every year. We saved for two years to by the laptop. We have an issue with following: Defective product ,Besides reboot, never offered repair. I guess, Toshiba try to save the money on warranty cost, while trying to squeeze more money from the customer on out of warranty repair, System errors, Disk Errors. You don’t understand how your defective product affects people’s lives. am taking online classes, and I might have to drop some of my classes because I don’t have a computer to use. Graduate level clases are very expensive.

Business response: A TAIS representative has contacted our customer. TAIS has informed the customer that software is not covered under the manufactures standard limited warranty, so we are unable to provide the recovery media free of charge. TAIS did offer a repair in accordance to the Standard Limited Warranty, the customer did decline. At this time we consider this matter closed.

Consumer rebuttal: This is outrageous. I didn’t decline repair. It was quite opposite. Toshiba declined me for warranty repair stating that laptop was out of warranty. Name of the customer service representative was Jeffry. I purchased laptop on 1/31/11. I mine time, I had to have laptop fixed and I turn to Best Buy for help (where I originally purchased computer). After all of my headache and loss of time and money, Toshiba customer care did offered any type of customer satisfaction. I have to pay for $30 dollars for recovery disk. I already have a recovery disk, but I am not sure if it works after new hard disk installation. Because high risk of failure, I am requesting a free extended warranty. Please note that I will send the letter of complaint to Mark Simons, CEO of Toshiba America Information Systems.

Final business response: A TAIS representative has contacted our customer. Toshiba's scam

Toshiba now charges for shipping because they got into trouble with the company they shipped with. You can find the details of this within the records of the California Attorney General, I think it will be either November or December to 2010. Or you can just ask UPS.

Pay for Shipping to have a new laptop fixed?

I bought my laptop 3 months ago and sudenly the mother board died, when I start it I get a black screen with a message saying to check the cables or the drive is mulfunctioning. I went to best buy and while talking to a sales person, I asked about how good a specific toshiba laptop was and the first thing she cheked was the hard drive in the device manager; it had a toshiba hard drive and she asured me that it was not a good laptop, toshiba hardrives are not good, too bad I learned that after my computer broke, I wouldn't of buy it if I knew that before. I had have toshibas before and never had any problems with them until now and this is the last time I ever own a toshiba. I contacted toshiba tech support and they want me to pay for shipping to have my 3 months old Laptop (which I bought new and as any new laptop I expected it to last me minimum a year) shipped to them and have it fixed, which I believe is ridiculous. Making a customer pay for shipping to have a NEW laptop fixed and now for what I have read, I am not even sure I want to send it to them and have them tell me that I spilled liquids on my laptop or that, have them install the same piece of @#$ hard drive that is going to last me another 3 months. I am just not sure if I should send it or if there are any other ways to do it.

If you really want to get Toshiba

To get Toshiba, you need to create a paper trail. These are three agencies that can do it. I also think you should e-mail your congressmen and senators.

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

http://www.bbb.org/

http://ag.ca.gov/contact/complaint_form.php?cmplt=CL

After you get done writing these agencies, go to this link and post the links of the three agencies above!

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2213279355#!/group.php?gid=2213279355&v=wall

The more people know about their options, the more they can do to stop Toshiba.

Why Toshiba does what it does!

Toshiba screws people over because they know no one will do anything about it. This is the first company the Occupy Wallstreet people should boycott. You must contact the FTC, bbb.org, consumer affairs, and the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. You must also contact your local attorney General and the California Attorney General because Toshiba is based out of Irvine, CA. If you don't complain, nothing will happen.

Do NOT buy Toshiba Products! - 11/10/11 6:23 PM

Do NOT buy Toshiba Products!

My family will never buy a Toshiba computer product again. My dad purchased a Toshiba Satellite L750D-ST4N01 for me on August 31, 2011. I have had the laptop for less than 2 1/2 months and have already had multiple problems occur that could not be resolved to our liking. Upon opening and removing the brand new laptop from the box it came in, I discovered that the function button was malfunctioning with respect to the brightness of the screen. Immediately after I found this problem I called Toshiba Tech-Support. They decided that I needed to remove the battery, hold down the power button for 15 secs, re-insert the battery, and it would fix the issue. It did. but soon after, multiple problems arose out of that one. After I had fixed the brightness through the removal of the battery, within the next 2 weeks I was getting the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) multiple times. It was over 4 times. The next issue was that my battery was not holding charge very well and the battery icon in the bottom right hand corner was inconsistent with the 'percentage charged' and '# minutes left' notifications. I once again called the tech support, they said I shouldn't be letting my battery drain before recharging the laptop. I said how is that bad for the computer?? because the whole point of a laptop is for it to be MOBILE. If I wanted to remain in one place constantly and stay hooked up to the electricity outlet I would have purchased a desktop!! So, they decided that i needed a new battery and that they were going to charge us $129.20 in order to get that battery. They promised that once we shipped our old battery back to them, they would refund our money. It is 11-10-2011 and we have yet to receive the refunded amount of $129.20. I received the battery and have had no problems with that so far. But, my next problem for calling tech support was because my web camera would not record video. Even through the 'Web Camera Application' that comes on the laptop itself, i get an error message saying 'Record Video Fail'. Furthermore, whenever i use the web camera, it tends to change colors from bright green to pink to blue, etc. The camera will also turn excessively dark often and it can only be fixed temporarily by restarting the laptop. for this problem alone, i had to call toshiba tech support 5 times, and to date, the issue is STILL not resolved. They have claimed that it was fixed after each call i ma de to them. They made me do a 'system restore' on my laptop over 3 times. i had to remove, back up, and re-install ALL of my programs and file and documents each time. Finally, I called toshiba tech support with my dad next to me so that he could talk to them because after so many failed attempts at trying to fix the web camera, they said that i need to send it into the toshiba depot because the issue might be a hardware defect. So my dad and i called back and tried to explain to the tech support people that i cannot possibly send in my computer because the estimated time to get it back is between 2 and 3 weeks. i am a student and have finals coming up soon. we were escalated to a case manager named Carolina. we told her that it is absolutely ridiculous that our BRAND NEW laptop is functioning so poorly. we said they could either refund us our money or send us a new laptop that isn't defective because we cannot keep calling tech support multiple times a week just to have our problems halfway resolved. Carolina said that the standard warranty dictates that it is under Toshiba's discretion to decide whether or not the laptop is irreparable. if so, then they will send us a new laptop. but she said it herself, in most cases, Toshiba will NOT replace a customers laptop. either way, shes said, we need to send in the computer to their depot. we tried to explain to her on multiples grounds that it is absolutely impossible for me to do so because of my school work. she replied, "have your daughter go to the library and do her work there". SERIOUSLY?! if i thought that was convenient, i wouldn't have flipping bought a LAPTOP! she was so incredibly rude and kept dismissing our needs. the fact that i have had to call toshiba over 10 times and STILL have unresolved issues is ridiculous. we thought that by buying the laptop through toshibas website, we would receive better service. NOT TRUE. at least if i had purchased the laptop through Costco or some other store, they would allow me to return the laptop within say 30 days or so. Toshiba will not let you return the computer even if it is defective! you buy it, you're stuck with it. My family has bought numerous Toshiba laptops in the past: my dad has one, he bought my sister one, my mom has one, and now so do I. With this level of loyalty to a company, I expect a level of respect and willingness to try and meet the customer's needs, considering we have provided Toshiba with such constant business in the past. i advise you all to buy other brands of laptops. personally, i will be buying laptops in the future from Toshiba's competitors. i am a bsolutely apalled at how poorly they tried to accomodate us. Never again will i buy a toshiba product.

Please Dont buy toshiba its expensive and useless i could of bought a alienware for the price that i paid 4 this.

Filing Complaint With Atty General

I have owned a brand new Toshiba laptop for 5 months and the hard drive has crashed. I need to ship it to their depot for repair, and couldn't print the pre-paid shipping label that was emailed. The laptop crashed when I tried to print it, and when I went to another computer, the label was no longer accessible. I have called them multiple times to ask that label be resent so that I can print, and they are giving me the run-around. They keep giving me reference numbers and excuses when all I want is the label. They sent me a box, but for some insane reason, they couldn't include the label inside of the box. It's a pretty simple request, but I think they want me to pay for shipping their crappy product for repair under warranty. I will never buy another one of their products and I regret having bought this laptop because having read the complaints, I have little confidence that I will get the thing satisfactorily repaired or replaced.

Toshiba sucks

I bought a Toshiba Satelite A505 in March of 2010, it cost me nearly 1000 dollars before I got the 200 dollar extended Best Buy Geek Squad warranty. It worked great until December of 2010 (so about 8 months). Then the cooling fan failed and had to be replaced. The Geek Squad didn't do the repairs since the laptop was still under the manufacturers warranty. So Toshiba took over the replacement of the fan. 2 weeks later I had to call them and demand that they return my laptop as I needed it for school. I got the laptop back after nearly 3 weeks and all seemed well (besides the slow repairs and horrific customer service). The fan worked correctly for about 3 months. Then the computer began to overheat and shut down about every 3 or 4 hours if I was playing any kind of game at all. The problem slowly got worse and at this point, August 2011 (about 8 months after the second fan was put in), my computer overheats and shuts down after about 15 minutes of use. I am taking it into Best Buy to see if the Geek Squad people can do a better job of resovling this issue. From now on I am going to simply buy computer parts (always desktops) and assemble them myself to avoid having to use something put together by someone else, especially Toshiba. I will never use or reccomend any product made by Toshiba for as long as I live.

I bought a satellite craptop L655-S5101 on Nov 13th, 2010and on June 19th it decided it didn't want to start. As it was under Warranty I got in touch with Toshiba and sent it back for repairs. They said some liquid was spilled on it so they wouldn't repair it. Nothing at all was spilled on it. Just Toshiba's way of avoiding the warranty. Such a lowlife and lousy company. I will never ever buy a Toshiba product again. Even the better business bureau don't care either. That's why the big companies do anything they can to avoid the warranties. Nobody cares.

Toshiba Screens Suck

2 months later after I bought my Toshiba netbook, all of a sudden the screen started showing internal cracked lines and black splots started showing up. The outside of my netbook was perfectly normal. It had never been abused. Although, Best Buy Geek Squad blamed me for causing the "physical damage". They were not help at all and were trying their best to get me out of their way as fast as possible. I was VERY upset with them AND Toshiba. I called the company and they were NO help at all. I have now bought a Acer laptop from Target at a very good price and I am VERY pleased with it. NEVER buy a Toshiba laptop. Their screens suck!

Customer disservice

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L645D in February 2011. One month later I had to send it in, they replaced the motherboard. In May I began having new issues. Mouse not responding, computer was downloading random things and placing them in a file. I did a system recovery, and it didn't help. So I sent it in. Toshiba did a sytem recovery, even though I told them I already did it, and sent it back saying it was working fine. It's not. Same problems, and now their customer supportwants me to do another system recovery. As of this moment of writing this, my husband has been on hold for a case manager for 45 minutes. So much for service. I've been telling everyone I know to never buy a Toshiba product.

Why not to buy TOSHIBA

I bought a new laptop four months ago. Three weeks ago it begun giving the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. After a week I called Toshiba. They had me restore my machine to factory default settings (reinstall windows). When that did not work the sent me a box to mail my computer into them. After the requisite 10 days my laptop came back. I opened the box and turned on the computer only to find it was stuck in a system preparation mode. This is apparently used to reload the factory setting at the "repair depot". After three calls to "technical support" they finally told me there is a set of keystrokes the will reload windows easily. I reloaded windows. As I began to load my software office 2010 would not reload. I called "technical support" and they claimed that there could be a problem with the software I was loading and I shouldn’t install it. I was also told I could ......REINSTALL WINDOWS again. At this point I had nothing better to do so I reloaded.

This time around I loaded 2010 office first. It loaded fine, so I loaded AVG virus protection, and Firefox and.......BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. I called the "repair Depot" and requested a fedex tag as I already had the appropriate box from the first round. Toshiba refused to send just a fedex tag and told me I would have to wait for a box and fedex tag....

This wastes a lot of money and time. While I wait for the box I am on my way to pick up a new computer. ASUS still gets great reviews.

Lesson for the week DONT buy Toshiba

Worst Laptop I have ever owned.... - 5/17/11 4:55 AM

Worst Laptop I have ever owned....

Recently I bought a Toshiba Satellite L645 after my Dell Insprion 1420 just was getting old. I thought it would perform better, or as good, as my year old dell. I mean why would I think that....but wow I was wrong. First is that I'm and American living and working in Vietnam, though this crap can't be blamed on them. Like most computers sold here there was no OS on the laptop, mostly because illegal copies are so cheap here, but I figured not a problem since I have a licensed copy of Vista. This started the first problems I had with Toshiba as their web site didn't support the drivers for Vista. When I called Toshiba Customer Service I got a lot of crap about being in Vietnam, but calling their American number. Well forgive me for wanting someone who speaks English, as I can't Trang Viet yet. In the end there was nothing they coud do to help me, and the only thing that kept the laptop from being an over priced paper weight was a Vietnamese that knew something of what to do.

The second issue I had with the laptop is it has some of the worst video drivers I have seen on any, and I stress any, laptop. If I watch a hi def DVD most times it can't handle it and stops, and normal DVD it skips constantly and then gives a message about how the video drivers crashed. I wish I didn't sell my old Dell and still had it, since a year older and worked much better. I know though I will replace this piece of crap soon and go back to Dell. Not only did it work better but I got the drivers on a CD with the laptop.

Toshiba Laptop Screens burst

This is about the 12+ notebook I ever bought. The previous 6 were Dell, prior to that Sager, worked with about 4-5 different IBM Thinkbook and when it became time to purchase a notebook for my daughter for her schoolwork,I found this offer at BJ's for a Toshiba T215, one of these cute little thingies. Now 7 month later the notebook was on the table and my daughter was watching something on youtube all in a sudden the internal screen broke you can see the center and 4 spider line and of course black spots where the liquid leaked.

If I wouldn't have seen it by myself, broke while running no out impact, the note book never fell and was only handled as any other notebook, nobody stepped on it or anything else.

Now by now everybody can guess calling Toshiba resulted in the rejection of the warranty claim, stating that broken screens are not covered, because its my fault #%$^&*()_*&^%$.

Excuse me, this is the first broken notebook screen ever in my life and it happened to crack on the table, it was 100% perfect one moment and then the other it died, and this is my fault.......

This is the first and the last Toshiba product that I ever touch. They can keep their stuff. Lousy customer service to top it off.

Want someone to steal from you? Get a Toshbia laptop

I bought a Toshiba laptop in August 2008. In August 2009,the video card failed. I called Toshiba Customer Support and they told me the warranty was expired. I said no and sent them proof of the purchase and updated the warranty. Then for 8 months I called them twice a week and they said there was nothing, they could do and got rather rude and hostile. I finally told them to either fix the laptop, get me a new laptop, or a refund or Iwould sue. Finally in August 2009, they agreed and fixed it. Shortly afterwards I started getting the BSOD and it died a few months later. Got it working again, one year later and tried to do a system restore. But due to them lieing to me, I couldn't fix it. When I first opened the box, I noted there was no recovery cds and called Toshiba about it. They told me that there was a recovery partition on the laptop, so I thought nothing of it. However, there was no "recovery partition" they had lied to me. So when I asked them for the cds, now they are charging me $25 for the cds. I asked why should I have to pay $25 for cds I could have gotten under warranty if they had not lied to me. In addition to the $500 it cost me in phone charges calling them in the 8 month warranty struggle. So unless you like being lied to and having to spend money on something they should have to fix, since it's there faulty equipment, don't buy a Toshiba. They are nothing more than a thiefs wearing suits.

I sent a Toshiba laptop in for repair that I've owned for a month.
The LAN port was broken. The repair tech, Jason (ID JRB2) said
the pins were bent and that he straightened them. I can't imagine
how pins get bent on an Ethernet port but who knows? After I
received the "repaired" laptop back it lasted 2 hours (plugged in)
before it went dead.

I called about this problem and was told it was an AC Adapter
problem. That seemed kind of fishy since they had just
messed around with the LAN Port next (to the AC port).
But, the Toshiba tech on the phone insisted that was what the
problem was and sent me a new adapter. I tried it and, just as
I thought, nothing. The light still blinks 6 times on the front
panel when the power key is held but that's it. The AC
adapter light on the panel never goes on. Oh, and did I
mention I put a voltmeter to both the old and new adapter?
They both register about 19.3 - 19.5 volts. THEY BOTH WORK.

Toshiba called and said they would e-mail me a Fed Ex label
for shipping the laptop back AGAIN. Three days go by, no label.
I e-mailed them requesting the label. They reply with a note that I
didn't include my serial number on the e-mail. It seems they can't
track your problem by name, phone number or e-mail address.
Only serial number. I still have no return mailing label.

Besides the brick of a laptop, I have a 62in Toshiba DLP TV. If
the 200 lamp didn't burn out every 6 months, it would be a
decent TV. At least someone filed a class action lawsuit against
Toshiba for this.

Bottom line...don't buy Toshiba products. Their customer
service sucks, they don't care about the customer, and their
products don't seem to be durable. Seriously, a laptop that
breaks twice in 2 months?

Purchased this laptop for my daughter, and the screen started to flicker. Called customer service and they told us to try the laptop with another display, and it worked perfectly. Then they told us to reset the laptop to see if that would correct flickering display on the laptop, but this wouldn't work. Sent in the laptop and after approximately a month got it back in worse condition than when we sent it in, the display would not even come on. Sent it back again and it finally came back and worked for 3 weeks before starting to flicker again. When I contacted Toshiba again to inquire about the warranty on repairs they just gave me a link to their website, as if to say it is out of warranty now so tough @$#&. This company is by far the worst and needs to be run out of bussiness due to the fact that they have no customer service at all. If I treated my costomers this way in my job I would soon be looking for other employment!

A505-S6033

I owe a Toshiba A505-S6033 since June 2010 - I believe it is my 12th notebook/laptop since the early 1990's and I always preferred Toshiba. Since I purchased this particular computer A505 I noticed its speed was not much better than my previous A135-S4499 and the battery life never reaches 1.5 hours. On Jan, 1st, 2011, I was out of the country, and I started hearing a scratching, ticking and sometimes loud clicking what seems to be the hard drive. I stopped using the computer before it developed in further damage. Back in the USA I called Toshiba and after a very fast introduction of the problem the attendant made me believe the problem was Windows 7 and recommended to backup my hard drive and call back Toshiba to recover the media in the computer. He did not suspect or realized the hard drive could be damaged and his wrong advice cost me precious time to backup. So I took my notebook to the Toshiba Authorized Dealer in Ft Lauderdale referred by Toshiba Customer Service just to find out they were unable or incompetent to backup the hard drive after 2 days, and recommended to send the computer to Toshiba for repair. I was atonished how Toshiba and the Authorized Dealer have no clue about was going on and after reading some review on the web, I was concerned in Toshiba's ability to handle this problem. I sent my notebook to an independent expert who partially backup my data the same day and diagnosed that my 500GB hard drive needed to be replaced. He also informed that I had a Seagate Momentus Hard Drive installed instead of a Toshiba hard drive. I called Toshiba again and I requested a replacement for my hard drive and a new media to be reinstalled. I asked then many questions about the software and the recovery media and they answer Toshiba will not send anything, that I must send my notebook to Toshiba for repair and that is it. I found out later i Toshiba Website that for $24 Toshiba sends the recovery disks, what is not much, but as far as in my previous computers this media was included and I am having a major problem due to a defective part it became a matter of greedy that is hard to understand. I found out also that Toshiba is one of the few manufacturer's who installs slow 500GB 5,400rpm hard drives in modern notebooks despite the faster 7,200 rpm hard drives are available and more convenient for a i7 Core processor and it seems also the hard drive in my computer manufatured by a third party has a lot of bad reviews. As far I am 2 weeks without a solution, and everything that I could do I did, I decided sending my computer to Toshiba Depot with many concerns if it will be adequately repaired and upgraded. Unfortunatelly Toshiba attendants, supervisors and Authorized dealers did not show enough knowledge to treat my problem and my confidence in the warranty terms is limited.

Wont buy Toshiba again! Ever!

This is going to be long but if you are in the market for a new laptop, I recommend you stay clear of TOSHIBA!

I decided to upgrade to a new Laptop back in April. I have had Dell's and an HP and they were decent. No real issues. I came across a Toshiba U505-s2002 at walmart. It is a little brown laptop that seemed rather practical. I wanted something that was compact but did not want a mini. I purchased one! I booted it up and started going through everything and it shuts down on me with an error. The computer says it has a fan malfunction and states that it needs to be returned to the depot. I thought it was just my luck. The computer got very hot before it just powered off. So the first two-three weeks of becoming a new owner of this laptop, it was at the depot "being repaired." I thought to myself, Just my luck! I asked them to check the hard drive over since the computer did get extremely hot. They said it was ok. I got it back and it froze up on me continuously. I called and spoke to their technical support a couple times. This goes on for a couple of months. I go to turn my computer on and the screen is now rainbow! You can not see the desktop! So I once again call tech support and we discover that if i put pressure on the back of the screen, my desktop appears where the pressure is. ( This laptop sits on my desk and has never been dropped or exposed to water or any harsh treatment. It has no scratches and looks brand new.) While on the phone I cracked the screen by applying pressure to it. The tech knew this because he was helping me get a paper off of the computer that was due for class the next day. He says send it in and we will take care of it. three more weeks go by and they return my computer to me still damaged. They said it is physical damage and it is not covered. I tried to explain but decided it was not worth my time. I took my computer to a local repair shop since a toshiba one was 2 hours away. They put in a new screen and I paid for it. I was still having troubles with my hard drive freezing on the machine so i called them a couple more times. They had me download a few drivers and so called fixes and report back. Finally at 3 am while working on a 15 page term paper for a final my computer froze up and wouldn't even boot! The technician advised me and walked me through re-seating the hard drive and memory chips. No luck. I sent it back in again. I recieved a phone call from toshiba stating that the screen was cracked and they were not going to take care of my computer under warranty! This hard drive issue started within the first two weeks of my purchase! It was because my fans were not hooked up internally from the get go. I sucked it up once again and ordered a new hard drive and was waiting for my computer to arrive back from the depot. It came alright! I took it straight to the local shop where they let me watch as they worked on it.

First off, the screw in the hard drive was cross threaded and no in all the way and crooked. They commented on it and I saw it. I know it was not like that when i re seated it. No big deal. Easy fix. They put in a new western digital hard drive and started loading the OS. we noticed the strip across the top of my keyboard was not popped in all the way. Someone was sloppy when assembling it at the depot obviously. Once booted, The keyboard did not work at all! so they took it apart to discover they never bothered to even plug it back in. Once plugged back in the number 4 6 and space bar do not work. Seriously TOSHIBA?

What is a 1 year warranty? I have been completely honest and it seems like they will find a way around no backing their product. I now have had to put new fans, screen, hard drive, and keyboard into a computer that was purchased late april 2010!

Absolutely fed up with their customer service!

I would not recommend a toshiba product to anyone and I hope this helps you in making your next computer purchase.

I have a satellite laptop computer only three months old. Both USB ports are non-functional and it's obvious from looking around the web that tons and tons of others have the same problem. Toshiba's website offers no viable repair and their phonehelp line is totally worthless. You could grow old and die before an actualy human being will pick up and talk to you.

math professor 's complaint about Toshiba

I purchased a Toshiba NB205 netbook.

It started freezing when I turned it on.

Intermitently at first, and then always. By the time I sent it to be repaired the one year warantee was about to expire.

Toshiba Laptop Repair recieved the unit. They told me they replaced the mother board and then they sent it back to me. So far, so good.

However when I recieved it back the repair was not good and the netbook froze again, permenently. That same day.

When I tried to send the netbook back (as an ongoing repair issue) I was told the warantee had expired on the previous day!

When I explained that the repair didn't work, that they didn't fix it, they kept saying, like robots, that the warranty period is NOW expired.

The story continues, but you get the idea...

The worst thing is that their customer service is a useless waste of time and that the Laptop Repair center doesn't return calls.

They have you waste time leaving messages. It is all designed to wear down the customer.

It works! Toshiba wins. I give up. My time is too valuable to waste it on a $400 item.

But I won't buy Toshiba again. I will not spend any grant money (I'm a scientist) on Toshiba equipment.

I will tell my students (undergrad and grad level) and my collegues not to buy Toshiba. It is not worth it the agravation when something goes wrong.

i must stand up and applaud toshiba for proving they have no prejudice. they could care less if you bought a tv, computer, spent $100 or $5000,they treat all as equals. F@@K Y@u all is the message that is sent. in an age where most fortune 500 worldwide companys are focusing on the customer this rare dinosaur has decided they are big enough to stand alone and have the take it or leave it attitude most of us thought died out centuries ago.congrats toshiba you are still managing to cling on to what the other companys have deemed barbaric aqnd needed to shed for their own survival. I Guess the last samuri died out on your customer service run around! again congratulations on a job so well done, only your company could have the vision and wisdom to tell so many people to kiss their a@@es and survive. remember yin-yang.youll get yours

I agree

If this is to every be taken seriously, names, dates, etc.. need to be given along with the complainers name and location, maybe even where you purchased the product - it's kind of laughable to expect to be taken seriously when you won't even give a name.

I bought a $1000 laptop in May 2010 from Toshiba Direct - Online, the touchpad and click buttons went out around 6/29 and on 7/2/10 I took it to a local authorized repair shop. They ordered the part and said they would call in a few days - after a few days with no call, I called them and was told that Toshiba sent the wrong part. They said they had re-ordered it and after another week and no call, I called them again (on 7/21/10) and was told that the part was on back order. I then called Toshiba and spoke with Heather in CS. She said my only options are to wait till the part (touchpad and clickers) is sent to the ASP - with no estimate on delivery, or ship it in to them. So, they have the parts, but won't forward them to the repair shop. I asked what would happen if it was damaged in shipping - they said UPS would cover it. Now since I just got through with a similar issue with Fed-ex over another laptop damaged in shipping, I really didn't want to go through this again - but what choice do I have. It is under warrenty, but they won't send the part to the ASP and are MAKING me ship it to them to be repaired. Toshiba sucks - then again so does HP, and probably every other big computer brand name company because they can - no one sues them cause no one will get together for a class action suite and even if they did and the company got sued, who would it hurt? Only the people that took the time to file the suite - the company has to much money to care what one individual, or even a few thousand have to say. Believe me, if there is one thing I know - the truth hurts - but it doesn't change what it is, the truth.

Do Not Buy a Toshiba Laptop - 2/23/10 7:56 AM

Do Not Buy a Toshiba Laptop

I bought a 4yr extended warranty for my Toshiba Laptop. I started having problems with it and sent it into thier repair dept. I had first gone to local repair shop but they had no ccommunication with Toshiba (could not see my trouble list) and I heard them quoting one very expensive repair after another to customers on phone. My computer was returned to me after 10 days stating it was a biohazard. I spent weeks trying to get people on the phone and like other person got cut off, runaround and was referred to George. I was afraid to open returned computer but finally did and saw Toshiba Logo metal badly damaged and lower right corner of screen all scratched up. My 'biohazard' is not covered under te warranty. A company that is so hard to reach for help and sells a warranty that doesn't work when you need it is bad news. I was told to file a claim with UPS for screen damage. I've seen bad things on other sites about Toshiba as well. I would strongly advise against a company that puts you on hold for an hour and then hangs up - very poor customer service.

My televisions rear bulb for viewing TV has burned out 4 times in 3 yrs. At a cost of $175 per replacement bulb. Both the dealer(Video Only) and Toshiba said this should noy happen, as the bulb should last at least 6 yrs. Neither the dealer or Toshiba will take responsibility for this problem. The Toshiba telephone rep was very rude and treated me without respect. He seemed disinterested with me (The customer, who spent $1400)on this piece of junk. Dont buy from Toshiba!!!!

Explanation of why Toshiba sucks - 1/20/10 8:48 AM

Explanation of why Toshiba sucks

Ok, I will elaborate on why I hate Toshiba. I purchased a brand new Toshiba laptop in mid-November. After two weeks, I started haveing problems with the screen. I called the tech support and they informed me that this was not covered under warranty. I took my laptop to a repair shop and they wanted $40 just to look at it. They told me that this problem has to be under warranty and to call the company back.

I called technical support back and was then informed that this was covered under warranty. The tech support rep had me install a new program and informed me to call back if it did not fix the problem. It did not fix the problem.

I called once again and was informed that I would have to send them my laptop for repair. This new tech support rep told me which UPS store to take my laptop to and they will have all the information on where to return my laptop. I would have to wait a day for the order to go through. I did.

When I went to the UPS store they had no information about my laptop. They checked all their faxes and their computer system. Nothing.

I went home and called again but asked to speak to a supervisor. They said they would connect me and the line went dead. Called back and after a lot of hassal finally got a supervisor on the phone. She was very rude. I explained my situation and informed her that I was starting to become aggravated with this company. She informed me all I could do was put a new order in and that I would have to go back down to the UPS store to ship my laptop. I told her that wasn't good enough. She said fine do what you want.

I looked up the number for the corporate offices in Irvin, CA. After listening to alot of recordings and pushing a lot of buttons, I finally got George on the line. Now this is their VIP escalation division. I thought I was getting somewhere finally.

George listed to my situation and told me he would send a shipping box directly to my home to return the laptop and that it would ship via Federal Express 2nd day to their VIP department where they would fix my laptop pronto. (George had promised I would have the box at my home on Monday, I didn't receive it until Wednesday.)

After a few days, I called to get the progress of my laptop. I got a voice mail and left a message. Two more days, no return call. I started leaving a message everyday for a week with no return phone calls. I had number George had given me to check the status of my repair on-line but the number did not work.

I called back the main number and got to a message where I could say the name of a person I wanted to talk to. I said anybody and I got connected to an Alan Barry. Even though he was far removed from the repairs department, he listened to my story and said he would make a call for me.

Presto, the very next morning I receieved a call from a very apologetic George. He gave me the number to call to check on my repair and a new number to go on line to check that he should have given me earlier.

I called the repair shop where my laptop was sent. They informed me that the LCD monitor they were to replace came in defective and they were waiting for a new part. After waiting a couple days I called back to see if my part came in. No. Waited a couple more days, Nothing.

I called George back and told him I just wanted my money back. They cannot and will not do this. I bought a brand new laptop and now going a month without it. Very frustrating.

I called Alan Barry back to ask for George's supervisor name (because George told me he had no supervisor, he was the top of the line. I couldn't go any further except for the Vice President, who George said would never talk to me.) Alan said he would see what he could do again for me. I got a call from Julie in the same department as George. She said she would see what she could do about the situation. Waited for her return call for two days. I called the repair shop and was then informed that my part would not be in until sometime in February. You've got to be kidding me!!! I called back Julie and was informed their was absolutely nothing I could do. I just want my money back plus interest!!!
