Boycott NCSoftBoycott Description
On Friday, Aug 31 2012 NCSoft abruptly announced the shutting down of its popular and still profitable MMO City of Heroes. The entire staff of the game studio Paragon responsible for the game for NCSoft Paragon Studios was terminated with no notice. The cited reason for the game's cancellation was that 'it did not fit the company's vision'. The player community has found this to be inexplicable given the game's profitability. Many suspect the real reason for the game's closure had more to do with NCSoft's Q2 losses as a result of advertising for the company's upcoming Guild Wars 2 and continued losses from the game Aion. Many also suspect that the company shows preference for its Asian playerbase over its North American and EU players because of the company's repeated cancellation of games or game servers (for games that are still supported in Asia) in NA/EU.
Over 11,000 fans have signed an online petition to the company, many have written letters, and boycott and community groups have sprung up on Facebook and Twitter. Hundreds of messages have been posted upon the company's Facebook page. It has been a week and still the company has not clarified its reasons or answered questions
Boycott NCSoft. A company that does not provide feedback to its consumers does not deserve them.
