I am a current magic jack user. My account is paid to 12/ 2014. I just spoke to MJ billing and asked for a refund as magic jack no longer works ( can not recieve incoming calls) therefore, due to their latest "upgrade" magic jack is NOT providing the service that I paid for. As well as messing up my screen saver and other problems with my Win-7 computer.
DO WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM...

This is the worst company I have dealt with. The customer service does not exist. They keep telling you things and dragging things on but never resolve an issue. I had the corporate office hang up on me. My issue started when I bought a second upgraded magic jack to replace an older one. I registered the item to replace the old one which never happened and then started getting billed for both. Coustomer service did noting excpet tell me stories, I had to go through my credit card company to get my money back. Now my account for months is in review, I cannot renew my phone number or extend my service because the account is under review and has been since 2013. No one has given me the same or any straight answer and I am changing services to find someone reputable. I would watch out, it all works well to god forbid you have an issue then you will never get it resolved.

Although I do completely agree that MJ's customer service couldn't suck anymore if it tried, I've been with them for 2 years & not once have I had an issue. I tried the original MJ that had to be connected to a PC & it was horrible! When the MJ Plus came out I decided to try again. Not having to connect to a PC made it like night & day. I have no doubts in the least that all the stories on here are true, I think I just got lucky.  I even have a router that connects through a secured encrypted VPN for all internet traffic, the  MJ Plus is connected to one of the GB ports on the router. So even using it with that setup, I still have never had a single problem.  I won't ever be upgrading the MJ Plus, like the new MJ Plus 2014, to me it's not worth the risk to switch devices. I am one of those people who has to have the latest version of something, but I'm taking the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" approach this time.

Bought the Plus after having the regular Magicjack for years. Paid for the first year. When it was time to renew they never contacted me and just turned off my service. I have been on line 8 times over the last two months chating with there customer service  trying to give them money so this device  will work again. They say my account is under review and I will be contacted via e-mail. I wonder if they are doing this to all there customers just so buy another device. Not happy. Terrible company!

I am going to Radio Shack to complain about my broken MJ+.  While there I shall tell then that I will not spend another penny in Radio Shack unless they refund my money.  I will also tell Best Buy they are also loosing a coustomer.  I fact I will present this message to any store I find that sells Majic Jack stuff.  JOIN ME!

I have a terrible experience with the product and the service. I recieved an e-mail for an upgrad for a magicjack that doesn't need the computer. From that momento on (like six months ago) I lost my Magicjack number (all my friends and costumers have it) and I never recieved the upgrade.

I contact costumer service six times and the only answer I receive was that my case was in study and that they were giving priority. Never receive a feedback or any answer from them. The worst parta is that I was on my third of 5 years subscription. I lost my money for my remaining two years.

Finally lost my number, my money, my time. Don't buy this service.

Like other commnentators, I have no faith in  MJ.  They are untrustworthy, they have no scruples and they should be boycotted. When they promise something, it is their way of lying to customers.  Have you heard of this company http://www.nettalk.com/en? I have read some positive comments about their services and I think you might consider paying their website a visit.  This might be a better alternative to MJ. Please join the other blogs in which MJ's unethical code of conduct is exposed.

I'm with the old magicjack system and since the new one came in, I've been unable to receive and make long-distance and international calls (my subscription is valid and I added money to international calls).   MajicJack must continue its good service to customers that still use the old system OR provide them with the new unit at no cost OR refund us the money.   Bad service, Bad or unavailable customer support, Bad transition to the new unit!!

My license is scheduled to expire on NOVEMBER 08, 2016!  I also asked for refund unsuccessfully. Does anyone know where to report the MagicJack sellers to stop them from selling it? The contract text hidden between monologues of other contract terms stating that once paid you are not able to get refund is a reason to fight in a court. All reputable companies in USA offer refund when you are not satisfied with their product. Why then the MagicJack does not want to take the responsibility of returning money for poor service and product.

I tried to get my Magic Jack up and running again but after 4 hours of trying with 6 reps and 1 remote session by "Bella" who basically messed up my computer and then dropped me in the middle of it, still no use.  I asked for a phone number each time and each time the rep "Said" through the online chat window that I was being transferred to a "top 10% service tech."  Dropped me every time.  This is discusting!  This company needs to be held accountable for their faulty product and inept technicians.

Man alot of these "comments" are comical. Pure lies, actually. You can tell many of these are from other VOIP companies. A greta example is the one post that keeps saying "Ladies and Gentlemen" LOL you can tell this is someone in India sitting at their computer just spewing crap, having been paid by whoever to type all that nonsense.

It's easy to spot the real commentors from the fake ones.

As for me? I haven't had a problem with MJ and I'm in my 3rd years of service.

After being bombarded w/ads ,decided to see what all the hype was ~ since RadioShack's close ,told clerk wanted to see if it would work ,if not just '"return w/receipt"' ~

Next day tried to return ,but was refused b/c '"blisterpak"' was missing !!! ~ prolly last trip to R/S due to fraudulent marketing practices ~

 

BTW  ,'"Skype"' (w/video) is the way to go @2.99/mo

One year after I purchased a 5 year plan my magicless jack plan expired.  I waited on the phone for 25 minutess, and was told they had not activated my 5 year plan, and that I needed to wait 30 minutes and then my magicless jack would work.  Over a week later the service is still not working.  This is the worst company I have dealt with.  They claim you can get live online support, but that is a LIE.

I have been a Magicjack user for the last year. I have no complaints about the service I received regarding incoming and outgoing calls.
Lady's and Gentleman, You must see this to believe it.
The other day I got notice that my service was to expire. I attempted to continue service, submitted my credit card information and the process could not go though. It WAS NOT my credit card.
Lady's and Gentlemen, let me present to you the following (short story if I can) of the outcome and Magicjack's response.
After "chatting" to a service rep, they sent the situation to billing to follow up with me at their earliest possible time.
Just to remind you I talked to my credit card company and all was perfect.
Ladies and Gentlemen I submit to you Magicjack official email to me with their explanation.-----------------------Dear XXXXX XXXXXX,
Thank you for your order of the magicJack on 01/11/2011. Due to the overwhelming demand for the magicJack, we are at this time only accepting orders from those who have not previously ordered a magicJack. Please visit us again in the future and we will try to accomodate everybody.
We are pleased to announce that magicJack's are now available at Radio Shack and Best Buy. Please click the Best Buy or Radio Shack link if you would like to order your magicJack today.

I think this company may have the worst customer service that I have ever seen!  They misrepresent themselves when you purchase this equipment about getting a free number.  In order for anyone without Magic Jack to call you... you have to pay additional money for a phone number!  And it was stated to me that you get a FREE LOCAL phone number!  When I contacted customer service, which is online only... they do not have a phone number nor will they let you speak with a manager over chat!  They will not do anything about their mis-representation... they just simply say that's what we do and then they end the chat!  They wouldn't give me a number to call, a manager to chat with, or even their name or a customer service representative id number.  They said it was against their company policy.  Seems like a scam.  I'm calling the BBB and reporting them.

Magijack continually breaks its deadlines concerning number porting.  They must have some hidden agenda.  Their customer service is amongst the worse, if not the worst I have ever seen!

Magic Jack & hughes Net Internet:  the First (3) three words of a phone conversation is lost (satallite space) and customer service to return would not help at all.  But they did say it would not work with sattalite internet but would not say or offer any customer feed back as to why it dosn't work.

I have read the comments here and with the exceptions of a few  who said they loved the service(I suspect relatives), this product stinks to high heaven.Voice echoes,trouble hearing at both ends etc-you've read the comments from others-- all true.I had signed up for one year service and of course was billed for two.  Tried to get a refund at that time by contacting billing service more than enough times-of course the result, no refund.  They won that round--Now it is my turn-Today, I contacted their customer service (Thanks to "MagicJacker 5/3/10 9:53AM") since I had lost my contact list and no/in outgoing calls.Billing phone # is 281 404 1551-Surprised,after holding less then 5 minutes-a live voice and I will say cordial. It seems my service with them was deactivated as of Aug2010. No calls in or out except for voice mail. That service will continue for 3 months after deactivation. Nothing she could do about that-(she is billing only)-In my case I had already stopped using the service and no one calls that number assigned me. Again I say now it is my turn-No renewal and to inform others to stay away from Magic Jack.
I will contact my state Atty General and see if they could be stopped from giving uniformed and false info in their ads. Concerns me as it appears no AG (as far as I know) have taken any action against Magic Jack.

went to register and the software completed w/o assigning number. terminal now will not work and they refused to fix. Now being told extra 10.00 for number. Worst customer service ever. refused to help and assign number without 10.00. Never again with this company

1. There is a permanent fix to the Win 7 screen saver problem at the magicJack forum on dslreports.com

2. Google for "magicjack better business bureau" and you'll find a hit for www.bbb.org/south-east-florida

I would open a complaint with them.

3. Things are getting worse with magicJack. In the past 3 weeks they've begun blocking calls to residents of rural areas. MagicJack customers are complaining to the FCC. It's also a possible cause of "false advertising." MagicJack says you can call anywhere in the US and Canada. Then blocks calls to hundreds of thousands of phone numbers in the US.

 

I wouldn't expect much from a phone service costing only $1.67 per month. But, this company has a really bad reputation in the ethics department.
