I have never, ever, been treated like this before or had worst service in my life! I guess no surprise, because it's impossible. I'm in complete SHOCK of what just happened. I called Tech Support, I paid them $59.99 to get transferred 8 times (after wading though all the languages of outsourcing), then hung up on. I called them back, the 9th person at least refunded me after begging and pleading and explaining how I just spend 3 hours and 6 min on the phone to get absolutely NOWHERE. They didnt do one single thing to help! They're still going to charge me the $60 and then I have to wait for the reimbursement but anyway. I called for a problem that has been on and off since the day I bought it. All this for: ready??...a CD burner. WTH really!? I HATE HHP AND WILL NEVER EVER BUY HP AGAIN. This was not my first encouter with them and the results were the same before. This WILL be my last though, I assure you. RUN AWAY FROM HP

HP lies, Pavilion DV2000 series notebooks are deffectiveBoycott Description
anyone owning a laptop from the DV2000 family should be aware of the overheating defect that plagues these PCs., which ends in a defective Nvidia GPU frying portions of the motherboard, rendering the PC unusable usually right after the one year "warranty" these thieves offer, some people have had the problem even before the 1 yr. standard warranty was up and they still received a hard time getting the PC's repaired, and HP repair process is another nightmare of its own. ***please visit hplies.com for more info**** I've spent hours on the phone and emailing Executive Case Managers to get the same response: pay, or you're S.O.L.The defect comes from the Nvidia GPU that is installed in these PCs. Per my last conversation with HP they went so far as to say that it's not only the GPU but what CPU it's paired with. I have a notebook that has the Nvidia GPU, but according to them it's not affected by this problem due to having an Intel chip versus an AMD chip. I wonder if AMD has heard about how they are indirectly being blamed for a problem that has to do exclusively with Nvidia, since they got sued and paid money to PC manufacturers to cover repairs and warranty extensions that HP has chosen to give to SOME owners of these PCs, and not to others, based on investigation done by their "legal and engineering teams" but to which no one has free access or can get a copy of whatever report they put out.
Boycott Demands
for HP to recognize the entire series is affected by this and to own up to it and repair the PC's free of charge for all users, not only an arbitrarily selected group. These are PCs that were bought at $900 or more, and they want to extort $300 or $400 more out of them to "repair" them? !!!Advertisements

i can't join your boycott because the security code app below keeps saying I entered it wrong, even though I entered it right.
I have a HPIQ772 TOUCHSCREEN and it has all the same symtoms the graphics card is fried has there been any cases where my computer has been part of a class action case, i am geetting no satisfaction from hp...
"I have been in IT for 10 years, this is the second and last laptop from HP that failed due to absolutely no fault of my own but their design flaw."
I had to laugh at this comment. There is no way you have been in IT for 10 years. And if this is true it explains a lot. Any person who is stricken with downsyndrom knows that HP sucks. And if you include even a second of IT knowledge you woudl understand no matter the price you NEVER buy HP. This is not news. Yes I agree do not buy HP. But if you have ever bought one in the past 2 years...You're and idiot. And frankly it sounds like you shouldn't be in IT.
After paying for a service contract I called in for assistance and was avised their system was wxperiencing a problem. The person advised to provide a telephone number and th/he would follow-up. That was 5 days ago.
Surprise, no help. My credit card has the deduction and I am beyond angry. If there is a class action pending law suit growing I would like to be a participant.
Thanx
I have had to send my computer in twice now because of all types of issues. The computer came back and the same problems persists. This company is completely incapable of selling products that work or even providing customer service that is helpful. Be prepared to spend 2 hours everytime you call in on the phone. Obviously you are not going to be talking to someone apart from 15 minutes of the total alloted time. Even though your call is answered within 5 to 10 time. I promise you that it will be an entire mornings conversation because you will be put on hold many many times. By the time it is over you will have showered, shaved have had breakfast and finished writing review about how this company is total crap.
Intermittent BSOD issues with this desktop. Spent over 8 painful hours on technical support in India (outsourcing stinks) to no avail. Finally shipped back unit, which was my CEO's PC, for repair. After 6 days the machine arrived back with a new CPU and HDD but with the same issue. Still trying to get it straightened out but by now with the time i have dedicated to this problem I could have already purchased another box. The saga continues...
I avoid HP (& nVidia) products at all costs!
I have been in IT for 10 years, this is the second and last laptop from HP that failed due to absolutely no fault of my own but their design flaw.
the second class action law suit as well. check out http://www.nvidiasettlement.com/index.html
I BROUGHT A SLIMELINE IN 2007 AND IN 2008 THE TOWER NEED A NEW MOTHERBOARD. THEN AGAIN IN 2009. NOW IT'S 2010 AND I NEED A NOTHER ONE AND THE COMPANY WOULD LIKE CHARGE ME 325.00. THERE SHOULD A RECALL ON THIS TOWER
I had a similar problem but I was luckier than you my mother board fail me the week of final last dec. 2009, I was still under warranty and I continue to have keyword problems with my Dv4. I will never ever purchase a HP laptop again and tell everyone I know not to purchase one either, I hope people check this site out and HP doesn't make a penny this Christmas until they do right by those who they already stole from
Hewlett-Packard has not responded to this boycott yet.
I've filed a complaint with the BBB out of CA since HP is based there. HP is now blaming me for not accepting their petty offers for a "discounted" repair fee, something their own "account manager" said would not be a permanent solution anyway. I will send the info the BBB requested, but I can already see that a toothless agency funded by the very companies that it's supposed to be "watching over" is not going to go anywhere. As I've said before, do yourself and your family and friends a HUGE favor, and don't ever, EVER buy anything made by this joke of a company

Lifted from their own support forums. Notice how the DV2500 series is also noted there, although the HP reps I've spoken to claim my machine (DV2700) falls under the DV2500 family, they still will not repair this piece of crap computer.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY HP, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY ANY OTHER BRAND YOU SEE FIT
