Boycott Title

HP lies, Pavilion DV2000 series notebooks are deffective

Boycott Description

anyone owning a laptop from the DV2000 family should be aware of the overheating defect that plagues these PCs., which ends in a defective Nvidia GPU frying portions of the motherboard, rendering the PC unusable usually right after the one year "warranty" these thieves offer, some people have had the problem even before the 1 yr. standard warranty was up and they still received a hard time getting the PC's repaired, and HP repair process is another nightmare of its own.   ***please visit hplies.com for more info****    I've spent hours on the phone and emailing Executive Case Managers to get the same response: pay, or you're S.O.L.

The defect comes from the Nvidia GPU that is installed in these PCs. Per my last conversation with HP they went so far as to say that it's not only the GPU but what CPU it's paired with. I have a notebook that has the Nvidia GPU, but according to them it's not affected by this problem due to having an Intel chip versus an AMD chip. I wonder if AMD has heard about how they are indirectly being blamed for a problem that has to do exclusively with Nvidia, since they got sued and paid money to PC manufacturers to cover repairs and warranty extensions that HP has chosen to give to SOME owners of these PCs, and not to others, based on investigation done by their "legal and engineering teams" but to which no one has free access or can get a copy of whatever report they put out.

Boycott Demands

for HP to recognize the entire series is affected by this and to own up to it and repair the PC's free of charge for all users, not only an arbitrarily selected group. These are PCs that were bought at $900 or more, and they want to extort $300 or $400 more out of them to "repair" them? !!!

I've filed a complaint with the BBB out of CA since HP is based there. HP is now blaming me for not accepting their petty offers for a "discounted" repair fee, something their own "account manager" said would not be a permanent solution anyway. I will send the info the BBB requested, but I can already see that a toothless agency funded by the very companies that it's supposed to be "watching over" is not going to go anywhere. As I've said before, do yourself and your family and friends a HUGE favor, and don't ever, EVER buy anything made by this joke of a company

Lifted from their own support forums. Notice how the DV2500 series is also noted there, although the HP reps I've spoken to claim my machine (DV2700) falls under the DV2500 family, they still will not repair this piece of crap computer.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY HP, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY ANY OTHER BRAND YOU SEE FIT
