4 years ago I purchased a GE PTAC unit to replace one that went bad. The warranty is suppose to be 5 years on freon pars such as compressor, evorpoator, etc. GE says they do not have a certified technician in my area so they cannot honor the warranty.

The glass fell out of my oven door and shattered into a million pieces. Consumer Relations people have been NO help, have not kept their word, and do not respond or follow up. I will never buy another GE product in my life, and urge other consumers to buy from anyone other than GE as you will get NO service or help if you have any kind of product problem, which you certainly will, because they are selling totally crappy products and they don't care at all.
March 2012 - GE does not support customers
I have GE microwave with a failed Magnetron. It is emitting large sparks. Upon removing the magnetron I found that the sparks left residue where they are leaking from the cylindrical shaped piece on the end of the Magnetron.
The Magnetron is under warranty.
BUT
GE WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND SEND A MAGNETRON.
GE HAS SENT OUT HUNDREDS OF MAGNETRONS TO CUSTOMERS - SEARCH ONLINE TO SEE THIS IS TRUE.
I called GE PARTS, GE support and GE consumer relations departments. They changed their policy two weeks ago and require a service technician to replace the part.
THE COST IS $220 FOR THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN.
Since I already removed the part the service technician would have to put in 3 screws and plug in the cable...FOR $220...I PAID $229 FOR THE MICROWAVE NEW!!!!
DO NOT BUY GE.
DO NOT BUY GENERAL ELECTRIC.
GE DOES NOT SUPPORT IT'S WARRANTIES UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE SAME AMOUNT THAT YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT!!

Purchased air conditoner 2 1/2 years ago just started not able to adjust the temp pulled out unpluged the circuit board to order in part and was told that you cannot order just that part,What a RIPOFF had to go and get a whole new air conditioner ,will never buy a GE product again.
General Electric has not responded to this boycott yet.
