Free Credit Report Rips You OffBoycott Description
LIARS........When you call to cancel during your free trial, they assure you that your membership is cancelled and your card will not be charged. This is what they promised me until I found $74.75 on my statement today. When I called to complain and demand my money back, they would only agree to give me $14.95 credit and again assure me that they will no longer bill my card. As I complained further with a superviser, she gave me there address and fax number. She said that I can send them a letter and that they may consider reimbursing me the balance. She also stated that it can take up to 45 days for the review process. What a SCAM. I am sending my fax out and also logged a complaint against them with the BBB. The Address is:
PO Box 19729 Irving, CA. 92623
Fax: 949-567-5758
Good Luck Everyone.
Boycott Demands
Force them to give you a confirmation number when you call to cancel.Have them send you an email stating that they received your wish to cancel and that they will not charge your card. (They claimed that I never called to cancel) I called and emailed them. Still have that email too.
They are SCAMMING people by stating they never received there cancellation call and you have no way of proving that you did.

Company responses
FreeCreditReport.com is horrible. They'll do anything to keep you from canceling your membership. I tried canceling about a year ago. The Customer Service Rep informed me I would no longer be charged. A month later I was charged $29 for a "Free" credit report that I never asked for, or even looked at. I called and was told by another CSR that she canceled my acct, but couldn't reverse the fee because "I agreed with the terms and conditions", which stated that if I canceled my acct, I would not be reversed any fees. Understandable, but what about the part where I tried to cancel it the first time? This happend a second time a month later, and I explained my situation to a manager. Same excuses. And without an apology the manager reversed half of one $29 dollar charge, and that was $90 dollars after I originally tried to cancel. If this happens another time I will pursue legal action. Hopefully they will appreciate that more than the money they stole from me:)

Obviously, this company is defrauding consumers in the information that they put out re: their being the company that provides the free annual report provided by law. Then when the consumer realizes they have been defrauded and tries to close the account following the process provided, it doesn't work and they are stuck with an uncancellable service that they did not want. Legal recourse is necessary to protect the consumer.
