Farmers Insurance Taking Advantage of injury Claims

I am from Maryland. When on vacation in Los Angeles California, I was rear ended while sitting in traffic. It was on a major highway and traffic had stopped. There were three cars involved, myself in a small rental car, the car behind me which was also stopped and than a third car who didnt stop hitting the car behind me into me. The damage in all the cars were somewhat minor but it still gave me a strong jolt. Besides spending the whole day on the phone trying to get all the insurance companies contacted, it ruined the last two days of our vacation. I have a serious pre existing back condition with degenerate discs and hurniated discs as well. This was doing ok prior to the accident but within a few days, I started to get seveir pain going down my legs. I also had knee pain where I bumped my knee on the steering colum. I went to the specialest when I got home and after two MRIs I was told I needed knee surgery to repair a tear. They sent me for therpy for my back which did not help so than to a pain management doctor where I went through a series of shots in my lower spine. This did start to help with the back pain. The knee is much better but not 100% but the doctor said he took out all he could and will have to accept the rest of the pain. This accident happened on July 7 2009 as I recall and had my knee surgery in January and the series of shots a few months later. I have a 1000 deductable on my insurance and used my 5000.00 PIP on my GEICO car insurance to cover the first part. I have not put a total on this as yet but its well at 15,000.00 on higher. The Farmers insurance agent has been draging his feet maybe because I had not got an attorney involved as yet. . As of last friday, he finally made me an offer $1915.00 to cover my bodily injury claim. He knows I have to file in California as well as find an attorney there as well. He also stated I only have two years to file anything because of the statute in California which gives me about 6 months. This amount does not even cover my out of pocket expensives. My advice to others, get an attorney before you leave the state because most attornies do not want to take it at a later date. Also remember, most attornies are only after money, and if the damage is not much to the car they dont feel you will have a case in court no matter how much your injuries are, pre existing or not. I have spoken to at least 10 attornies in LA recently and there all the same.

If you take responsibility, Make a reasonable offer and take in consideration the time it took to go to all the doctor appointments, the pain I have suffered than and in the future. Stop taking advantage of people and the situation
