Expedia customers unknowingly sign away their rights

Boycott Description

I went online to book 3 return flights to NYC from St. John's, NL, Canada. I made an error in my return date by one day.  I realized this the next morning and contacted Expedia immediatly knowing this would not be a problem becuase Air Canada allows its customers to change flights without penalties within 24 hours of the original booking. I was infromed by Expedia that because I used their service, I no longer had the same rights as other Air Canada customers.  There would be a $600.00 penalty for this change. When I asked a minimum of 6 customer service representatives where this was stated on their web site none coud find it.  Further up the line a supervisor did read me some legal jargon which he said covered this situation although when read did not resemble what I was experiencing. None of the Expedia staff felt this was a reasonable or fair fine but they could do nothing.  I feel certain that people who are flying with other airlines are likely subject to the same discrimination and unknowingly signing away their rights when using Expedia.

Boycott Demands

Waive the penalty and CLEARLY state on the website that if you use Expedia, you may not have the same rights as customers who book directly with the airline.
