Bad News Period

First off they and others charge way to much for TV, Second, Most of the customer support people are complete idiots and that includes the tech support. You set up a deal with one person, then when you call THEM back, they won't give you that person, and the new person doesn't give you the deal you set up originally. Have been with them since they began and am finally calling it quits. Highly reccommend all customers cancel their plans with them and force them to get real. Oh ya, Also haven't had Fox for 3 months, just likje every year with one or more networks. GOD BYE DISH

Boycott Dish for Employee Abuse

Dish won the case against a disabled employee in Colorado Appeals Court. This employee was using medical marijuana for pain and they decided to fire him. How lame is that! To the judges on the Colorado Court of Appeals you are judges who should be using Colorado law to make decision if possible not federal law. What, are you bucking for a job with the Feds? Shame on Dish for there actions and shame on the Colorado Justice system.

Dish = huge ripoff, liars!

I had Direct Tv for years and saw the 24.99 "deal" Dish had to offer so I called and asked very specific questions as to final cost and what my final bill would be every month and about other "fees" and or "hidden charges" over and over to be very clear about that before I agreed to sign up. Well long story short, they sound like robots when you call and I agree with the person that said they have a list of ready made lies to say to their customers.  I am so mad and so disappointed.  At least Direct Tv was honest about everything and did not try to scam you. Never would I recommend Dish to anyone! They wonder how they can improve their customer service how bout just start by telling the damn truth!

Dish Network robot bullies

Dish Network Damaged my home. Four days later sent an erroneously signed email contract saying we agreed to let them do it. They were unable to supply adequate service, and after we complained several times we terminated their Service. We were told at cancellation we would be billed $400 plus dollars in cancellation charges.

We have no signed contract, when we told their so called expert resolution expert this, He stated they were already paid $355.04, so they had our money. He said he would look for a contract and send us a copy, and if he could not find it he would bill us $99.00 installation charges ?? For an inadequate Service. Their last written bill was for $289.25, they then billed my credit card for $355.04, but if they can’t make these charges they want an installation fee. Dish Network makes up there fee’s and charges as they go along, their customer service department is rude, abusive and equipped with a list of ready made lies to tell the consumer. This company needs to be regulated and stopped from bullying customers with deceptive charges and practices.

Require then to be straightforward in their Business dealings. List all Charges or possible charges up front, supply a satisfactory service  for a reasonable amount of time complaint free, or not to Bill the customer for there non-performance.

Dish doesn't like combat veterans

I'm having uninstall and returning of equipment problems

with Dish. I told them I was a disabled veteran and I was

unable to remove and send the equipment back to Dish.

I asked them to send a technician to come and get it. They

refused to do it and they have ruined my credit rating on

all 3 major credit report agencies. Has anyone had this

problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

TOTAL SCAM - AVOID DISH UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!!! - 4/9/12 11:53 AM

TOTAL SCAM - AVOID DISH UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!!!

First problem was with the installation "appointment".  The first day it was scheduled we got a call after the tech was already 3 hours late saying that they couldn't make it that day and would be out by noon the next day.  After waiting around the house until 3:00 pm I finally called and was told that they couldn't make it that day either.  I told them that if the tech was not here by 5:00 pm they could forget about installing the system period.

The tech arrived at 5:15, didn't have much of a clue of how to install the system, disconnected out internet service and was going to just leave.  Finally got him to install a new line for dish since we kept our cable internet service.

Then the tech lied to us and told us we had a 15 month warranty on the receiver.  After 3 months of service Dish tried to charge us an extra $6.00 a month for "insurance" on the receiver.  We told them that if their equipment wasn't good enough to trust past 3 months that they needed to come and get it right then.  They assured us that we could expect that the equipment would last through our 2 year contract and that the "insurance" was for my own "peace of mind".  That experience obviously voided any chance for "peace of mind" with worrying about a $700 fee if the equipment did fail.

Then, within a couple of months our bill went up for the outdoor channel from $1.99 monthly to $3.00 a month.

After the first year our bill went up the expected $15.00 monthly per our agreement.  Within a month there was another price increase of $2.00 monthly for no apparent reason other than that they could raise the price.

Well, our two year contract was finally up the other day so we got Comcast cable installed on a great deal.  Only a one year contract, HD DVR service on all tv's, almost every channel possible including the premium movie channels, etc... All for about the same amount as Dish was charging us.

Now, today when I called to cancel the service I find that the tech had lied again at the installation.  He told us that when we were done with the service or moved Dish would send us "prepaid" boxes to return the equipment.

As it turns out, they send boxes and charge us $17.00 PER BOX to return the equipment.

Plus, they want me to climb up on the roof and take apart the dish to return it to them.

Oh, by the way, I am 100% disabled and will have to have someone else take the dish down.

There is no option for returning the equipment locally.

And then, the CSR had the nerve to ask me if I had family or friends that I would refer to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a "Hater" so there is no way that I would ever recommend Dish Network to anyone.

Every time we got even a tiny dusting of snow we had to have someone climb a ladder and wipe off the dish.

The remote system for the bedroom tv was totally garbage, half the time we had to go out into the hallway to change channels.

I would strongly recommend that everyone AVOID Dish Network like the plague.

HUGE Rip off

OMG!!  I should have never changed from DirecTV to DISH.  I need help BIG TIME!  I agree with all the comments below.  My Telephone service has a contract with DISH and kept sending CHEAP advertising for this DISH service.  I pay premium service with Directv, and in this economy we are all trying to save a few $$, so I decided to give it a shot.  First off I was told they had a wireless system to connect one room via wireless to another.  FALSE!!!  They had to drill a hole in my house wall to run the cable.  Secondly, I was told that it had HD on my local channels....FALSE!!!!!  HD was not supported on my local channel WMUR, which I watch 70% of the time.  Thirdly, the installation person, whom seemed nice enough told me that if I did not like it, I could send it all back within 30 days....FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I called DISH 2 times to try to fix the hazzy, fussy, horrible quality that was now coming through my very expensive HD TV with no resolution.  So after one week of this, I decided to cancel, under the impression I had 30 days to return!  NO WAY, when I called, they boldly tod me that I would now be billed $420 for canceling, and would have to pay $15 per box to return the equipment!  How can this be???  Is the customer not respected anymore?  I was unsatisfied with my quality after only one week, and now I have to be penalized for it???  with $420????  UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!  I need help in finding the right lawyers to persur this and sue them!  HELP ANYONE?????

Charging me to cancel!!

I called on Monday, after Dish has decided to stop supporting CBS in my area, was told there would be no cancellation fee because of this. I double checked and triple checked that if I decided to cancel there would be no fee and was told a total of 3 times there would not be. I called to set up service with a new provider, called Dish back to cancel afterward and was told it would be $100 to cancel. Got transferred to the exectutive resolution department after raising issues over it, and that guy said, I have the authority to waive the fee, but I am not going to. he SUPPOSEDLY transferred my info to his supervisor but I have yet to hear back. Called and left a message, still nothing...

My husband tried to cancel his service today due to illness and no longer living in the same house.  They want nearly $200 he doesn't have.  We lived in Oregon for 10 years. At least 9 of them using dish because nothing else worked in that part of the country.  We were moving to New Mexico and left a change order per their instuctions.  The bank told us we could move. But we had to live in a motel for 30 days when the bank held us up.  They tried to put in the service and when we told them we didn't know when they would give us the keys the discontinued.  When we got in we called and they installed it.  Now we don't have any use for it. At least 5 different cs agents gave us different solutions including send them my power of attorney. Got it out, copies made and called for directions and they said that cs was wrong.  They will probably end up sueing us for the $200 we shouldn't have to pay. Money grubbing company that has lousy service and even worse customer service agents.

I sent payment via my bank to Dish Network.  It was erroneouly posted to a different account causing a temporary disconnection of my service.  It took my four hours to resolve such a simple issue.  The representative promised that I could get an extension of the due date of my next bill.  Guess what happened? No one updated the file to reflect a new payment date and my service was disconnected.  When I tried to contact a supervisor, I was was disconnected.

Terrible customer service

I've just signed up for 2 years with Dish Network.  I thought that there will be some "OnDemand" service with the receivers I got.  And the service man that installed the system has assured me that I would.  To my dismay, I found out that there IS no "OnDemand" function unless you get a DVR.  So next thing I did was call them to look into swapping the equipment.  They've told me that to do so I'll need to pay a $100.

Very dissapointing service.  I was looking to the experience, hoping for good service.  I do not recommend Dish Network to anyone.

I'm thinking to contact the Better Business Bureau.  Has anyone complained to the BBB about Dish Network before?  I'm sure I can't be the first one.

mad because they have decided to take channel 10 fox off air. I pay for this channel and have watched it for years. I will change cable providers if they do not resolve this issure soon. I think it is very selfish and unfair for them to just decide to take a local channel off air because they are greedy and do not value their customers.

Dishonest from the start

I've dealt with dishonest people and organizations before, but none of them come close to the dishonest sales and promotional practices conducted by Dish network.
They started with this great promotion, no contract, great rates, for three or six months, free installation and wave the start up fee, etc. All of that is stated up front in big bold letters.  I thought I would give them a try, who wouldn't?
Well what wasn't said to me, was if you go with the HD version of one of their packages, you're automatically locked into a two year contract, which is counter productive anyway.
Then if one wants out like I do, then they have the nerve to charge a $245 dollars fee from not full-filling the contract I didn't willingly or knowingly signed for and or want!!!
And there is so much more to state.

In short, I'm going to contact the district attorney in the state where Dish network is head quartered at, and submit a complaint, cc-ing the better business, and any other agency that looks out for this type of deceptive practices.

In my opinion, this company should be investigated and if necessary shutdown for the deceptive and dishonest business practices they conduct.

Called dish to find out what was going on and was told they were not responsible for companies who sell and offer deals in behalf of dish. Wanted to cancel service was told I would have to pay a 200.00 cancellation fee. Now my payment has gone up to 86.00 per month. Same response have to pay 200 to cancel. Stay away from dish network. Yesterday, 4/26, I called Dish Network to get information about their service.  I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to continue, so the operator said she could put a temporary reservation on my account until 4/28.  I repeatedly asked her whether or not any charges of any kind for any reason would appear on my credit card before 4/28 and she repeatedly assured me that not even $1 would be applied until I confirmed whether I wanted to continue or not.

This morning, I checked my account and a $25 "holding" fee was placed on my account.  I would have NEVER even agreed to the waiting period if I had been told the truth.

I re-contacted Dish Network this morning and in the 2 hour period I was on the phone, I was transferred to 8 different people, each with a different story.  None taking any responsibility, none offering to reverse the $25 charge.  I am on a fixed income and this unforeseen charge has the potential to place me in a very difficult bind.  $25 is normally not much, but in my case it could just as well have been $2500.

I have now contacted the BBB and filed a complaint against Dish Network.

Dish Networks policies are fraudulent.  I was lied to repeatedly.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS.  I really don't understand how they can stay in business with all the myriad number of complaints against them re: their business practices.

I had my Dish Network installation done about 5 weeks ago and there were a couple of problems. I arranged for someone to come out and fix them and was given a 4 hour window. There was no confirmation call the day before, as companies typically do. A half-hour before the end of the 4 hour window, I called Dish to get the status of the appointment. I was told that the dispatcher was "just about to call." Nothing happened. A couple of hours later, I called to complain and was given a $30 credit and a new 4 hour window a week later. When that day came, the 4 hours again came and went with no visit from Dish. I called a couple of hours later and was told the guy was "almost there." I had plans and could not be home, besides which, they had blown two four hour commitments in a row. I got a voicemail from the service guy 4 hours after the end of the window, saying that he was in my neighborhood and could be there shortly. I was, as I said, out of the house, and ignored the message. I spoke with another supervisor, told her the story and asked for reasonable compensation for having been blown off two weeks in a row and for assurance that if I set up a third appointment and the window was again dishonored, I could quit Dish with no penalty. She said she could grant neither request, instead only offering to give me the phone number of the dispatcher so I could ask him directly when the guy was coming. I found that outrageously insensitive and greedy and quit. I have now been billed for $405 and will have to pay the shipping of the receiver back to these thieves. I have retained an attorney and am planning on suing them.

I canceled my service with Dish Network About 3 months ago. At that time I call customer service to get a total of all charges including fees so that I could settle my debt with Dish Network in full. I was givin a figure and paid the bill. About 4 weeks later I got a bill in the mail from Dish Network for early termination fees. I called customer and they were very nice and said it was a mistake, that they would take care of it. About 4 weeks after that I got another bill in the mail for a service interuption fee (not  early termination) of 30.00. I called customer service this time they were not very nice at all. I was told that this an early termination fee though it didn't say that on the bill. They said that it was a legitimate fee and that I would have to pay it. I spoke to a supervisor who got downright rude with me about this. I tried to explain that I was out of work, that I needed the money. He told me to pay the bill or they would put me in collections. Is this company that desperate for a lousy 30.00 that they would alienate a customer for life? I will never do business with this company again. These are abusive business practices.

They Are Nice Only Until the Contract is Signed - 4/2/10 6:30 AM

They Are Nice Only Until the Contract is Signed

I went over everything with the account rep before installation.  Now, less than a month later, nothing is as they promised.

They are charging for HBO/Show the first 3 months are suppose to be free.

When I cancel my service plan, which I promise I will do at the end of the 6 month period, I have to pay $25.00.  This for a plan I did not even request to begin with.

The billing date is set for the 2nd, my automatic monthly deposit is on the 3rd.  They will not change the billing date by one day to assist me with easier financial control.

I promise, if they don't do something about the repeated stabbing for every little bit of funds they can gouge, I will not be with this company at the end of my 2 year contract.  And I Will Not Return.  Once I leave a company, I would set at home and pay tic-tac-toe in the sand before I would resign.

Dish is no better.  So I guess I'd better get the sand pile ready.

Be careful, the installers are pushie and don't want to use new cable and want to install closer to the dish to save a few feet of lines.

The only people who talk right are the ones you talk with before you sign up. But then, isn't that always the case.

Please avoid this company at all costs! - 3/9/10 12:56 AM

Please avoid this company at all costs!

Please avoid this company at all costs!  The problems started the day I had Dish installed.  Although the installer was very helpful, he found out that my programming was not correct.  We tried to correct it, and found out that Dish was not giving me the rates or service they had agreed to when I signed up.  I spent 2 Saturdays trying to get someone to help me.  After finding someone I thought could help me, that person transferred me to an "Executive Resolution" team member, who was not willing to help me at all.  I asked why aren't you helping me, when the person that transferred me to you said you could help?  The Executive Resolution team member stated "he just transferred you to me because he didn't want to talk to you anymore(!)"  I finally reached a Executive Resolution team supervisor(Raymond) who would not say he would honor the rates that were given to me when I signed up, but that he would "listen to the tape" of my order with Dish's third party sales group, 4digitaltv.com to see what was said.  I asked if the tape does prove that the rates I said were correct, would he honor it, he said that he might not, because it may not be good for the company, and we would just "part ways"(!)  He promised to call back, once he heard the tape.  It' now been over a week and a half, and he's never spoken to me.  Tonight, I called in to stop my service, and get a refund of the $122.94 in charges Dish charged my credit card.  After being once again hung-up on and talking to several other customer service people, I finally ended up talking to another "Executive Resolution" team member. I simply asked for 3 things.  After all that I had gone through, could I stop the contract, get the charges credited back on my card, and to cancel the service in 3 days so I at least have another service ready when Dish service stops.  This member would not agree to giving me back a full refund, and shut off my service immediately, so tonight, I have no TV service at all now.  It's been a nightmare.  Like I said, please avoid this company at all costs!

dish network is not to be trusted

They took over 600 dollars out of my checking account without my permission due to I was going through a hardship with my health and was unable to work for a few weeks and got behind on all my bills and even though I had emailed and called several times and I had been given an extionsion and was told they would put me on a hardship pay plan for my bill they still went into my checking account and took out the money they said for 'non payment' after they had given me the approval on the hardship case. I had to dispute the withdrawal via my bank and it took them over 3 months to retrieve the money and now the satellite company dish works with is trying to sue me for installation which was offered as free installation at the time and there are several other issues and problems we are still having because they were suppose to have given me a discount pr month during my having their service if I had a certain feature put on the box they provide and the customer service rep did not offer it to me so I made a complaint and I was suppose to get that sent to me as well and have never received it and it has been over a year now. So I have told everyone I know or see or talk to NOT to get dish network because they do not give a dam about people they are in it for the almighty dollar!! thank you for giving me this chance to join your boycott because I wanted to start a paper boycott and instead I did contact the States Attorney about this and still to no avail. But at least the attorney did inform dish of the filing of the papers on them and maybe more of the customers need to do the same and something possibly would get done about dish network enough they would loose business and have to file bankruptcy!
