Days Inn CullmanBoycott Description
I am requesting a boycott of the Days Inn located in Cullman, Alabama.I have lived in Cullman for over 25 years. My parents and I moved from south Florida when I was 10 and have always loved it here. My father started working at the Days Inn here in Cullman as soon as we moved here and put in more than 20 years of service. My mother started working at Days Inn not long after and she also put in more than 20 years of service. The Cullman Days Inn had been owned by the Imperial Group based out of Atlanta and always treated my mother and father very well, as well as the rest of the employees. My father recently became ill and passed away in the month of April this year. As you can imagine our loss has left my mother in a very emotional and financial strain. Being the strong woman she is she picked herself back up and was back to work a few days after the passing of my father. In the middle of my father’s passing there was a change in ownership of the Days Inn. All of the employees were told there would be a 30 day evaluation period to determine who would be able to maintain their employment at the Days Inn. This turned out to be just a stall tactic and had nothing to do with the performance of the employees. My mother lost her job yesterday. She was told this was not based on her performance and that in fact she came highly recommended by the previous owners. My mother was the head housekeeper at the days in and barely made more than $2.00 an hour more than minimum wage. She was only a year and a few months from being able to retire and draw Medicare. The management released 4 workers on Sunday and attempted to get my mother’s cell phone so they would not have to face her. She worked all day Monday knowing it would probably be her last. When she broke the news to her remaining employees they all had the guts to walk in to the manager’s office and state if my mother was no longer an employee they would have to find a replacement for them as well. My mother and father were a big part of what has kept Days Inn open over the past several years. They both worked hard every day and their loyalty was with their employer. Loyalty unfortunately is rarely a two way street. I would like to get my mother’s story out there and exploit an alarming trend that seems to be taking over Cullman.
Boycott Demands
There are plenty of great motels in Cullman with top notch management, the Days Inn of Cullman is no longer one of them. Please discourage this type of behavior and stay at one of our other fine establishments.Advertisements
