direct TV must be the worse company I had ever deal with. They take unauthorized money out of your account. A couple of months ago I used my Debit card to pay my brotherinlaw bill and never authorized them to leave it on file. Apparently my brotherinlaw cancelled the contract with them. so they decided to take 533$ out of my bank account. I tried to dispute the charge with them and the only answer I received was that because my card was ysed once it stayed on file and they can take the money out. i spoke with an associate and a supervisor and neither one was able to help. Now im try to dispute the charge with my banK.  my bank say that thay can legely do this. and i will not get my money back. so i guss its leagel to just go and hack some ones bank acc. make up a lie and say thay owed you that money. and get away with it.

Directv stole money out my checking accout.  They were not authorized to take the money out.  They said from a balance that I owe and it will go down once I return the equimpment.  Daily they will be trying to take money out my account.  I taken all the money out the account and ordered a new card.  I ask how much, they said they can take whatever they wanted.  I never authorized them to take any payments out my account.  I called my payments in and I no longer have service with them, they do not need my account or take anything out.  I will never do service with them again!!!!  Signal is horrible.  Sun can be out and signal is bad.

Direct TV is trying to steal more money than I owe them.  I closed my account a few years back and paid off the bill when I was on the phone authorized bank draft.  No more from Direct TV until a year ago when I began recieving nasty calls from collectors stating I owe $200+ on my closed account.  Stange I paid the last payment with a draft and returned the equipment per their instructions.  Suddenly without any further bill or contact; collections agencies begin contacting me. Don't bother contacting Direct TV.... All you will get is lied to about any drafts or such.  Claim now they can find no record of the account ever being paid. Even asked for my equipment back:  I sent that to them a year earlier.  These people need to be in prison alongside some of the other crooks in America.

Direct TV stole $213 from my bank account too! I called them they said I owe more but wont provide proof! This need to stop!! luckily I got it reversed with pending dispute! I have my cash and I dont give a rat behind what happens with dispute! Screw you direct tv debit card cancelled and bank account closed!

Dipped into my bank acct and took $402 which left my bank  account over $200 in the red...I spoke with Direct TV and they never told me that I owed any more money. I borrowed Money to cover non sufficient funds then Direct TV went into my bank acct again and tool another $160.  I did not honor their  contract because I had to purchase a new car and I had to become more fruagl and eliminate un needed expenses in order to afford montly car payments.

yep apparently this is something that DirecTV is doing to 1,000s of people, we just called our bank to dispute the transaction and said it would take 3-5 business days.. and we just wrote a check for our rent so now we're going to have to call our landlord to see if he'll keep from cashing the check

I have a contract with Verizon for bundled services... I disputed a bill and their failure to respond (I have proof) resulted in disconnection 4/12/14.  I was billed by Verizon with no service active through June 6th.  Somehow DirectTV debited my mom's entire SSI amount this month, nearly $1500 they are billing me, & I was only back one month, and supposedly paid a month in advance.  My mom doesn't live here, has no money now, and is about to be evicted... DirectTV denied the req

uest to refund the transaction, even though she doesn't and never had an account with them.

Direct Tv stole 711.98 from me. I let my ex wife use my card to pay her bill at one time. She canceled her service due to poor reception and tv always going out. this was in April in May they took the money from my account. As if that was not enough the next day they took 0.76 what . Then they told me I would be refunded. I called yesterday and they claim our address match. No I live 4 hours away from her. This company is a big ripoff. I will continue to fight until I am fully refunded.

direct tv ripoff; first they overbill ; then say they can't credit your card back you must use the overbilled amount for future service; then when you cancel they use your credit card which has been removed from auto pay to charge fraudulent charges on it. direct tv is the most corrupt and unethical company I have ever dealt with.

Direct Tv debited my chking acct $945 for early canclatn fees. They used a card that their automated system saved when I made payment manually. They refuse the give my $$ back !!!  I am disputiing it with my bank, this is fraud !!!!

well I wish I had read all these prior to me getting direct tv. For I had service and the bill was at my ex-wife residence and I just left on there because she agreed to pay bill. I never signed any contract it was simply a call over the phone and they hooked up service they had my ex- wide account on file but stupid me called in once to help her with the bill using my debit card I am on Social SECURITY AND THEY MONITORED MY CARD TO SEE WHEN MONEY WAS APPILIED AND WAITED AND TOOK OVER 745$ FROM MY ACCOUNT UNAUTHORIZED BY ME I NEVER EVEN NEW MY EX WIFE HAD STOP PAYING THE BILL. I CALLED THEM AND THEY AGREED THAT THEY TOOK THE MONEY WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AND DIDNT CARE THAT IT WAS MY SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

First of I bundled with Centurylink for my phone, net, and TV last summer. I was first lied to by them. They told me I could get all three services for $80 a month.  I asked like 4 times if that was correct and the girl said yes. My first bill was $130 dollars or more.  Then it went to $170 after three months.  I can't afford this.  Can barely afford the $80 a month. So I decided to cancel Direct TV.  Called and the woman on the phone told me I would recieve a refund because I was cancelling before  the date I had payed for.  She never told me I was breaking a contract service agreement. No one to this date ever told me I was under a service agreement, BTW.  So I get a bill saying I owe $300 for ending my agreement (which no one told me I had signed up for). So I call the company.  The guy told me that he was sorry no one ever told me about the agreement, but I still had to pay.  He told me that I could pay what I could a month to keep them from turning me over to collections.  Ok, but he did say they could charge my debit card.  Well I said I will send them some money, within 2 days they have taken $300 from my account.  I called back and they said to write a letter to corporate.  Now, I have been a few days late on returning their equip (just been really busy) and want to do the same thing for $200 more. I will never ever go with them again. Gone back to Dish Network and love them.  If they stick it to me then I am done with TV!

i RECENTLY ENDED MY DIRECT TV SERVICE AND IT WAS PAST THE 2 YR AGREEMENT BUT THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME OVER $250 STILL UNTIL i WROTE AN EMAIL TO THEM AND THEY DID MANAGE TO CORRECT THAT, BUT A COUPLE DAYS LATER i FOUND A $152 CHARGE TO MY ACCOUNT THAT i DIDN'T AUTHORIZE. AGAIN SENT ANOTHER EMAIL BUT NO RESPONSE THIS TIME. i AM ON DISABILITY AND BECAUSE OF THESE IDIOTS DOINT THIS NOW i CANNOT PAY MY RENT. i REALLY HOPE THAT SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM , FOR WHAT THEY WERE CHARGING ME FOR THE MINIMUM PACKAGE THE PROGRAMMING WAS HORRIBLE EVEN FOR THE PACKAGE i STARTED OUT WITH. My mother had service with Direct TV until October; they upped her service amount, and as she is on disability, she couldn't afford to keep with their hiking rates. She had a bill due of $288.00, and no amount of adequate paperwork stating their policies.

In order to unknowingly debit an account, there must be authorization, and agreement to such contract is not stated or implied within the bills sent each month, nor do they explain this over the phone.

It is against Article 407 of The Social Security Protection Act for them to take this action against anybody receiving government benefits. They took over 400 dollars out of my Mom's account and that is her rent money.

Petition needs to be submitted against this group, and a class action law suit needs to be filed. I am almost done with my legal studies degree, so I have a slight edge in this. They are committing illegal activity. Their process is a violation of our civil rights. In due process, they have to take legal sanction to recover a debt, and if nobody agrees that they will allow a debit for any fees, it is therein illegal for it is a contract related item, and both parties must abide. I hope this information helps.

I was at once disheartened and comforted by reading these comments. Disheartened because it looks like I'll never get my money back, and comforted in discovering I am not alone. DIRECT TV are a bunch of CROOKS. I signed up for it on the phone, they took $224.99, and a week later I learned the landlord wouldn't allow it. So I returned the unopened box of equipment, and cancelled the service a day before they were to install it. They said they would waive the "re-stocking" charge of $45 as well, as my husband and I are both disabled. That was TWO MONTHS AGO. I have called for my money numerous times. They always say it will be 3-5 business days, and we'll receive our money. Then, nothing happens. Today they suddenly claimed they couldn't find any record of us in the system, asked me to hold, and then PROMPTLY HUNG UP ON ME! I am going to call the news media or the POLICE now. My husband, ZAP cartoonist S Clay Wilson, had a Traumatic Brain Injury in Nov. 2008 and is severely impaired. I am also disabled. We have no money to simply GIVE AWAY (or THROW AWAY) as we are on SS and disability. I am FURIOUS and feel powerless. You can't even find a local office for these slimeballs. Help!

Start of service date on or about November 14, 2011.  Service contract is for a 24 month period for “Choice Extra Package” at $52.47 per month.

As a new customer Direct TV purposely miss leads people into signing up for a “free three months” of  movie channels, some sports programs and a host of other items not included in regular programing.  The real deception is at the end of the three months.  If you do not contact Direct TV to “cancel your free” programing, Direct TV automatically bills at a much higher rate. 

On April 6, 2012 at 3PM, I called Direct T-V and after 15 minutes of being badgered I finally convinced them we did not want to continue with “any programing that was above the cost of our contract of $52.47 per month.  May and June bills were at the reduced rates and we assumed the billing as correct.

However in scanning over my automatic deductions I see my July bill went up to $85.46 and again Aug, Sep, and Oct.  Nov.16 2012 a detailed bill (I got on-line) was for an additional charge of $32.99 for” NFL Sunday Ticket”.  Two agents later I was told I have to pay the $164.95 because NFL Sunday Ticket came with last year’s free sign up package.”  I would never have kept a football package because this family never has watched football.

Directv took 251.46 from my account. I don't even have the service. This is against the law. I let a guy at my job use my card in exchange for the cash to pay his bill. They never told him nor me they will keep the card on file. Next thing I know i'm being charged 251.46 for him not paying his bill. What in the hell do I have to do with his account,nothing. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I found out they have 12,000 complaints for the same thing in the BBB. They should be shut down and give everyone they took money from a lump sum. Tell your friends don't let anyone use your card to pay their Dierctv bill or they will be chaged as well. Here is the number to the Presidents office 800-583-2191 they ext: 22715 she is in charge of the money being took. Queen Crook!!!! it's the right number I called it today. You will have to call at least 4 times before she picks up to tell you they won't give your money back. I hope comcast doesn't dod the same thing. We need someone to stay honest.

Direct tv.....I have been a loyal customer who has always paid his bill and made referrals, but within the last month they have tied up 1100 dollars of my money with little to no explanation!!!!! The first time they took 313.00 for someone elses cancilation fee, I had to wait ten days for them to issue a refund. That was Tues of this week, then on friday I wake to check my balannce because i have diect deposit and find that they had withdrew $784.00!!!!!! I called them three different times, they had NO explanation, and the best they could do was give me a fax number to there finance department which does not evidently take phone calls, so now because of this almost my entire check is gone and i cannot pay my bills... They advised me that it is not uncommon for the computer to have an error when it comes to electronic funds! This company in my opinion is disorganized and this act better be resolved quickly! Almsot criminal in my opinion.  I will be pursuing legal action!

I see i am not the only one screwed without a kiss by direct tv  my mother had an acct with them and i would sometimes help her pay her bill with my debit card.  she no longer has service with them and they debited my card for $391.  I live off of social security now and only rec $922 a month with a minor chid to support!  they said that since i paid her bill that I was assuming responsiblity for her bill and that they make people aware that they can keep you card info on file.  What bullcrap. That is no different that someone going in my purse and taking my debit card to the exxon and filling up with gas!!  OUT AND OUT STEALING!!!

So once I had Direct TV.  I was satisfied with what I had.  Then I moved, and after some evaluation I decided that I did not need a TV service.  So for the better part of a year I try to get Direct TV to take back their receivers.  Finally, I manage to give them back their receivers.  6 months later debt collection calls start coming in.  When I asked direct tv why.  They said that despite having received my receivers.  I took too long to send it back so I am still being charged for the equipment.  Yes their computer shows they have the receivers but that is irrelevant.  I still owe them money.  After all, it is their policy.  A policy that I was not told about when I asked for boxes after the time frame was up.  Now my credit is permanently damaged.  Because they are unreasonable and unethical.

I recently moved to a new apartment. In an effort to stop all of the junk mail from the previous tennents (and there's a lot of it) I'm on the phone a few times a week with companies, getting them to take my adress of their lists. Today I dealt with Direct TV and had this happen:

- If you are not the customer to whom the ad is adressed, they can't change your contact preferences, even if you give them your adress, and the ID number on the advertisement.

- Aparently, the previous tennent was not actually a direct T.V. customer, so she didn't have a customer entry, which would make easy to stop the ads, except:

- They do not have a "no contact list", and couldn't take my adress of their mailing list. So I guess the only way to stop getting ads would be to become a direct TV customer...(?)

 

Way to go direct TV :P

NOW JUMP AHEAD TO JUNE 9TH OF THIS YEAR, I ONLY RECEIVE A LITTLE OVER A $1000.00 A MONTH, I CALL MY ACCOUNT TO FIND OUT I AM $245.00 OVERDRAWN, DUE TO DIRECT TV PULLING OUT OVER $900.00. OCCORDING TO THEM, MY NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE#DOESN'T EXIST. BUT THEY HAD MY CARD ON FILE, OBVIOUSLY, MY BANK FAXED ALL INFO TO FINANCE DEPT AS TOLD, TRY GETTING AN ACTUAL NUMBER TO TALK TO THAT DEPT. Customer service needs an overhaul.  The right hand does not know what left hand is doing.  I terminated my service, I was told I would get a recovery kit to send back the DVR and the D11.  i called today and was told the termination for the service had was canclled. Another frustrating situation is Direct TV's customer service call center,  First an electronic voice comes pn andd request my info. Once I was in the system two otsher people asked fo tshe same info.Three month ago an individual called me and start yelling at me because of nonpayment, DidrectTV charged me for receiver they had sent to my home.  I had spoken to several superivisor regarding the situation. Thie went on for three mos. I was so frusstrated because I would make my payments covering my service. I had told these suprvisors I was not going to pay for something I did not order.  In fact it was in a box,never used. After terminating my service a customer service person called me to request I stay with DidrectTV..My response! No one is monitoring the store.

Two weeks before Christmas, my husband got a two week lay off from his job.  Our bill to Direct TV was only $31.00 a month but we decided to let service go until he returned to work.  Our service had been cancelled due to non payment as I had expected  However without warning they drafted our checking account over $125.00. (equipment and late charge)

Due to layoff we had no room for error in our checking account and had budgeted our other bills to be paid and had already sent over 8 payments out....needless to say when that $125.00 hit our account it was paid to Direct TV this started all other payments to be insuffient.  We had 8 $33.00 service fees $240.00 freakin dollars!  They said a credit of $42.00 will be given upon our returning their equipment and they will send a return box via Fed X.  I have yet to reciev

On the 1st of September 2010, My friend was charged 600 dollars for MY direct tv bill. He helped me out and used his card a few months back and was told it would not be kept on file and never charged again. 20 dollars for shipping. (I was waiting for my new card to come in the mail) I put my card on the account. I was unable to pay for the service due to the fact that I am pregnant and I couldn't work at my job any longer. I am SO stressed about this!!! They took my friends rent money UNAUTHORIZED!!! I feel so bad, on top of that, they said he had to fax them his information (which he did, TWICE) he has heard NOTHING from them!!  It's been more than 10 days. We contacted channel 9 news in Orlando, Fl.  I am pissed and stressed and 7 months pregnant. I have nothing better to do than make sure this company gets fined and refunds my friend!!!! Any suggestions?  Next will be the police and a lawyer and a harassment case and his bank getting involved!! This is BS!!

This company mistakenly pulled 400 hundred dollars out of my bank account to pay someone else's bill{the person had passed away and I had at one time payed their bill with my debit card} when they cancelled{due to death.} they say they will refund my money but it will take 10 business days and i need the money now, not next week..they it has been expedited and it would 8 weeks normally. Does it take 8 days to take the money out. I think not.

This company is horrible.  All they care about is money, not human concerns.  They sell their product by luring people in, then you see endless charges, especially when you request a cancellation.  I would not tell my worst enemies to go to them.  They suck!!!

This is common for them . I have called the CEO direct , usually a call to the top idiot in charge will clear up things , however this did not , They offer a referal payment and they have super small print that gets them out of it ... They have not honored our referals , sure the service is better than what we had but honor your promotions ... if not then dont complain when your customers speak out against you !! 
BTW I am also under contract k, mr White I challenge you to figure out who I am  :p

I so wish I could join this boycott!! Due to the fact I am currently under contract with Direct I fear joining. However, I will give my statement on this Co. I have been with them 8 mths. for a set fee. When comparing the amt charged against the amt that was set on contract, I have been over charged 198.00. They are not giving me credit for pmts. that are posted on thier own site. They are a BS Company. I can't get them to add month to month and do the math to see that they have over charged me. RIP OFFS!!!!!

Direct TV Boycott

I can not support this boycott sincerely due to the fact that I am a Direct customer. I live in rural Nevada,where we don't have many choices of services. We do however. have four different companies available for home entertainment. Direct TV is the best out of all; with excellent service.

I do hope you get the service you do deserve.
