Boycott of Craigslist

Their are plenty of alternatives to cl. I personally think the way they operate is disghusting. If your not going to allow people to post then why have the categories? I'll tell you why, it's traffic, cl is so popular everyone knows of them, if they take away some categories they feel are a hassle (where they do most flagging) then they lose popularity for the other categories they consider legit. I started my own site www.duttslist.com but the problem is getting traffic so people will post. 

Maybe if people would post there, browse there and just click the adds it would help with relevence and more people would know about it.

Are coming right from CL employees themselves, who may have political and other persuasions of opinions different than your own. There is no regulations nor code of conduct required of  those employees, nor check guards to see that they post every legitimat post submitted.

IM TIRED OF TRYING TO ADVERTISE MY BUSSINESS ON CRAIGSLIST AND IT NOT GETTING POSTED FOR REASONS I STILL DONT KNOW WHY, CAUSE YOU CANT GET A LIVE PERSON ON THE PHONE. IF A COMPANY DOEST CARE ABOUT ITS SUBSCRIBERS THAN I BELIEVE THEY SHOULNT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A BUSSINESS. WHILE THEY LET PEOPLE ADVERTISE 2 AND 3 TIMES A DAY AND I CANT GET ANYTHING ON THERE.

I'm one of the people who have been banned from CL while obvious spammers are able to post. The only way to contact CL is through their online help forum and deal with their rude, unprofessional vounteers who will say that your ad was ghosted because it had too much html code (even though you didn't use html code), a word or phrase flagged your ad, your IP address isn't in your area even though your server is on 10-15 miles from your home, and claims that you attempted to post the ad twice. For the person who asked if web developers can build a better site than Craigslist, yes they can but nobody will visit their site because people resist change and will stick with Craigslist.

We pay for a service and we are not getting it? Does anyone know a class action lawyer?

I have had every ad I place ghosted. I asked why I am being banned and they said they don't ban people, they ban ads. This is a lie! If they don't ban people then why has all my ads been ghosted while obvious spam ads are freely posted. I really wish there was competition to craigslist. I'm sure plenty of web developers out there can make a better website than Craigslist and it's Ghetto look and poor search engine. In addition it doesn't take much to provide better customer service than craigslist! Craigslist is one big fraud and I can't believe they are still in business!

first,i like the site.its the only one i use.but i tried to repost my flagged ads and i can't get in.i believe i have been locked out.all my ads are legal and i abide by the rules.

the flagging system is the worst and it needs to go.its the only site that has a flagging system.we all know flaggers abuse it,and i have seen them do it for: personal reasons,religious beliefs,someone's name or price,compitition ads,etc...

3 of my ads have been flagged for 2 weeks.i believe someone flagged my ads because i'm their compitition.by their complaint,i'm now (presumibly) locked out.

that's not right.its not fair i'm the one who follows the rules and my ads are flagged so someone else can maybe sell something.and for this,they take the flags ad gospel while NOT taking the effort to investagate that my ads are abiding.

further more,someone who i never met,delt with,spoken to,sold anything to and had no communication with,can post abusive ads about me on craigs.every time they do i email craigs and NO action as taken.

they also:

-ghost ads. this is when you place a ad but it doesn't actually show up on craigs.

-makes you periodically reset your password or get phone authorization.i don't see why i have to prove i'm a real person every time.

-they track and control what ads you post.meaning,if you post a certain amount of ads,they cut you off.i believe they track you thru your i.p. address as well to note your activity.

-allow abusive flagging or posts against you.

i could go on.i'm sure the items above are in a effort to help make sure scammers don't post ads.that's fine,but they need to revamp their business practices and the site itself to protect their faithful users.i would rather put up with  ads than being locked out for posting ads that abide by the rules and having my legal ads flagged by other cause they can.

i'm just a out of work guy who's trying to sell stuff to pay the bills like everyone else.

I typed in NOT Criagslist and I found a website that is like CL but it isnt!  And the posts WORK!!  WOOHOO!!

How much money and how much time and what level of skills would it take to start an alternative craigslist?

Tried to repost, was asked to provide phone number to verify I was the account holder, rejected because the number WAS ALREADY ASSOCIATED WITH AN ACCOUNT!!

YES!!!MY ACCOUNT!!! Frozen out.

PAID for an ad, the ad was "WITHHELD fOR REVIEW"

WAS NEVER PUBLISHED! No Nigerian scammers, RIPPED OFF BY CGAIGSLIST

Craigslist is the most despicable company on the planet.

A good friend was scammed out of $800 and Craigslist did nothing.

Nigerian scammers make up almost 40% of all rental listings, yet Craigslist does nothing.

It's a seedy operation run by seedy people making millions. How sick is this?
