In regard to the pervious comment, I think the only way to effect change in how a company conducts itself in the marketplace is via a boycott. Ultimately the only argument that any company will listen to no matter what its size is one backed by action which affects its bottom line. If Air France responded in the ways you suggest (compensation, meaningful change in its business practices, etc.) then I would agree that a boycott would be unnecessary, but in the absence of any such action, all that is left is to boycott.

Why you should boycott a large company

ill never fly with them again
an airline as bad as Air France should not be in business and if they conduct business by robbing people of their time, money and luggage then I will quite happily boycott them

Regarding the boycott
I don't believe anyone should boycott a large company such as Air France - many employees and families are living and breathing as a result of being employed by such a large company and we need to sympathize with that fact. What Air France needs to do is penalize the responsible team for such a mishap (luggage handling services) and enhance its services afterthat - ideally, they should give extra bonus miles for those who were stranded, but definitely after paying them the damage value. Kind regards.
