This company is the most unresponsive one I have had experience with in 50 years.

It is almost impossible to get to a person they love to cut you off (once after twenty minutes) and they dont follow thru plus they love to disallow legitamite problems.  Stay away from them!!!!!!

I am very up set with acer and the hinges they put on this particular laptop.  The hinges are made of metal, the stress of opeing and closing the screen so many times makes the hing or hinges week making it pop up and cracking the screen on the bottom left hand corner, it can also happen on the right hand corner, however with all the research i have done it seems as though it happens on the left hand corner more than the right hand corner.  Anyway I will never buy another acer again as long as I live.  Microsoft Surface will be my next purchase, no hinges popping out cracking screens. I will just keep my eye out for when someone decides to start a class action lawsuite against acer and have them replace my whole lap top due to it being no good anymore, I already tried to replace the screen and when I did the hing popped out again cracking the new screen I put on it. I was going to through it in the garbage however I decided to keep it and wait to see what happens in the future, eventually someone will get so pissed off and start a class action.

Two months  before the warranty expired ,I sent my daughter's laptop in for repair because it stopped working.The changed the motherboard and other things and  it came back with a broken hinge which started separating right after the warranty expired and after this it started rebooting  over and over trying to run recovery but couldn't do it.We found a remedy for this by taking out the battery and pressing F10 +alt but  it started to do this all the time and now it's in laptop heaven somewhere.I expected this piece of crap laptop to last longer than it did.Acer should get hit with a class action lawsuit as well as Dell /Alienware.

Paid 600£ for garbage! Screen turned blue after two months

When asked for help on how to fix the problem they said that

If i bought it from currys/pcworld then i have to contact the retailer

As they no longer deal directly with customers who bought from 

Pc world. Any ways i did as they told me and sent it through pc world for repair, couple of weeks later i got it back but then again a month later 

The same problem appeared leaving me with no choice but to return it to the same pc world to be repaired. I am still waiting. My advice is never buy an acer and more important never buy from currys/pc world if you dont want to spend hours waiting your turn to speak to customer service desk.

They have repair center called know how in every store but the waiting time is ridiculous as you have to stand for hours before any one can speak to you.  I call it know nothing because all they do is pack your product and send it away hell knows where. May be to india considering the time it takes to get it back. Microsoft is not helping eather as they are making more and more restriction to their softwares so that home fix becomes impossible. No product activation number to do a reinstall by your self but a brick that has to be sent away even for the smallest software crash.

I have had my acer m5 for about a year and a half in April of this year I heard a noise coming from my computer I realized the fan had gone out on it so I called acer to have it fixed. When I got it back I turned it on to make sure it worked and it did well tonight I turned on my laptop and what I got was a laptop that wouldn't stay on for more then 10 min it's over heating. So that tells me either they never fixed the fan or they didn't use any thermal past when they removed the processor and now I can't get a hold of anyone else at acer because my warranty went out wth. Me and my husband both do computer work so we know what the signs are of an over heating computer I will never buy another acer product again and as far as customer service goes don't even get me started.

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6657 Laptop.  22 Days out of the 1 year warranty and the touch screen cracked seemingly on it's on.  I can only speculate that the hinge mechanism is too tight, causing too much stress on the screen, causing it to crack over time.  This laptop was never mishandled.  It spent it's whole life up to this point on top of a desk (used like a desktop, never moved/carried around, etc).  Because it is out of warranty there is not much I can do about it, even though the problem seems to be a manufactuing defect.  They make it so that contacting them for any issues is diffucult, and then you get a recording, and after entering in the SNID info, it autot-detects that it is out of warranty and tranfers you to some 3rd party out of warranty support, so you never even get to speak with anyone from the actual company,  This defect does not seem to be an isolated incident and as such a class action lawsuit should probably be taken up against them.  I certainly will never buy anything from Acer ever again.

I have an Acer laptop and the side hinge is broken but the screen is 100% in perfect condition. I sent it out to Acer but as soon as they received it they told me that they cannot fix it because the screen is cracked. They then emailed me photos of it and the box. They tore off a small peice of bubble wrap and took a photo of it saying that it was the only wrap that I had in it. What BS! I wrapped it with 4 feet of bubble wrap. I even have pictures the night before I sent it out to Acer through UPS. I will never buy Acer again and I'll make sure to spread the word.

I can't stand Acer tech support because they just pick and choose who can get tech support and who can't. I called their 800 number once and they wanted me to PAY almost $100 just to get help over the phone. Today my tablet won't power on and all the Best Buy locations in my area are closed until 10:00, so I tried chatting with an Acer online, and my serial number isn't even eligible for online chat!!! So basically, THERE'S NO WAY ACER WILL LET ME GET ANY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of problems with this laptop after only 2 1/2 mths.  Our responsible daughter found this laptop to begin falling apart about two weeks prior to our 90-day return policy at Costco where we purchased it.  Strange things like the screws on the back began falling out one by one, all by themselves.  The keyboard began to have sticky keys and touch pad would freeze.  Calling Acer support, India I assume, was an added disappointment due to communication barriers creating an hour and half phone call.  This is just wrong.  Also a small blotch in the upper left corner of screen appeared on it's own - no recollection of any mishap - creating a line on the left side, then at times the upper screen.  Another inconvenience, the warranty no longer comes with the laptop, it has to be found online.  Out of the many laptops we have owned as a family, this would be the worst :(  Wish we could have said better things, but Acer needs to have better quality control to regain their reputation with us as a family!

does anyone have or are thinking of a class action lawsuit against acer for defective products as i have an aspire 7720 i bought 2 years ago and the backlight has gone i press fn+f6 and it comes on for 2 seconds i know there are no set limits to how long the consumer guidelines say it should last but come on should be more than 2 years toshiba is being sued for their products not lasting too we should find a lawyer and deal with acer once and for all

My acer note book was under warrenty and they did not except it. Saying it was not packed properly. I sent it right back to them then they tell me my screen is broken. Well I was pretty upset because it was not damaged when I shipped it. Today I was in the UPS store for somethingelse and saw a sign saying "we will not be shipping acers due to constent damaged problems. Is acer damaging our property so they don't have to honor the warrenty? I paid almost 400 for this thing with warrenty included and it is just sitting on my shelf now. I really need a lawer.

Avoid Acer. My screen failed, and instead of honoring the warranty they are telling me I ABUSED it. It's been in a drawer in a padded case. Their product failed, and so did the company.

I bought an ACER Aspire One.  Out of the package I had to fix some of the buttons which they put on wrong.  After that it worked fine for a couple of months.  Now it freezes after a few minutes of being on the internet.  The only way to fix this is with a hard reboot.  It's so horribly annoying.  Last time I will buy their product.  I'm gonna have to get a new laptop, 'cause this problem is getting worse and worse.  You suck ACER!

ACeR can screw its customers but cant keep the screws in their machines. just over the one year warranty and i notice the left side hinge is loose... power plug is loose and 2 screws are missing one near the cd rom drive and one by the power plug/left hinge. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE>>>CRAP!!! how do you F-up a screw job?.... not LOLing

bought an asprire, with in 2 months, ram failure, bad motherboard, usb died, same with internet cable, corrupted harddrive and trackpad failure, keyboard sticks, and the screen died so it was always black, battery lasted about 30 minutes on powersaver, THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY

I bought this laptop Acer Aspire Model 5532, barely over a year ago, and the warranty expired just recently.  Both USB ports are damaged, physcically and ACER has informed me that the motherhood board needs to be replaced with a costo of over $300.   I can not believe the bad quality of Acer computers.  They suck, don't buy them!

Is there anyone out there that has or knows of any lawsuits against Acer for the Hinges on the laptops? I have an Acer Apire 7410Z and first my left hinge went then the right one went and the bottom of the black part of the screen has a crack in it. As with everyone I called Acer to be told that I have no warrenty that my Laptop is over 3 yrs old and they do not make the parts anymore for my computer. This problem is a defect in the Acer computer and they should replace the hinges. Acer is a Piece of Junk!! BEWARE!!! IF YOUR THINKING OF BUYING ANYTHING ACER DO NOT!!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY LIKE THE REST OF US!!!..If you or anyone has a lawsuit against Acer for the Hinges I would like to be contacted.Please respond to my comment with information...

I've had two different acer laptops fail in less than 2 years.A279; I had an Acer Aspire Timeline 5810TZ and an acer travelmate 2200.

The aspire timeline complety fell apart. Screws came out on the case. When I put the screws back in very straight and gentle the holes stripped out. Now I have big holes where the screw was. The hinges came apart  too. They completly split a part where they are connected at. That was just from normal use. I got a blue bar on the left side when it did run. That was bad; That never went away. The laptop after all that just eventually stop booting. Dead in the water. Will not boot from the battery only, charger only, or both together. This all happened in less than 1 year.

As for the travelmate 2200. I had similar problems with the screws. The battery compartment fell apart too. Battery will not sit in the compartment. I had to glue it on to keep it in place. The case would not stay together, I had to glue it togethyer in several places. Where the semes are I started noticing gapes after less than 1 year.

Bought acer laptop new in may 2010, crashed 6 weeks later.  Sent to their repair facility at shipping and packing cost of $38.  Got back week and a half later, used 3 days, crashed again.  Sent back to Acer at their cost.  Came back 3 days later, said was checked and it was working properly(?!?).  Used 2 days, again crashed, keeps shutting down with blue screen "page fault" and "beginning memory dump",  IE kept shutting off also.
Called Acer to request refund, was told to ask Office Depot for a refund!  Stores don't warranty computers, manufacturers do.  Was told a refund was not possible because "this was a repair"  Yeah, a repair from an original problem that was not fixed, therefore not a "repair" issue.
Sent e-mail advising I would take only a refund (less than $400).  Went up chain of command, told no refund.
Lousy computer, defective, lousy company, care nothing about their customers or their reputation.
Avoid these laptops at all cost.

Well a few days later and Im still unable to sort this out and to make matters worse the backlight along the left hand edge has now failed so a 3rd of the screen is very dark.

I bought an AL2416W in January 2008, its been great up until about 3 weeks ago and is now problematic when trying to turn it back on after the pc has shut the screen down or its been off for sometime.

I am an IT tech and have been repairing/building pc's for over 30 years. So I had already checked all the obvious things and researched for possible solutions before I even tried to get Acer to sort it out.

I tried to raise a fault ticket on the website but it wont let me enter any more than 3 chars for the SNID and then wont accept the ticket because the SNID is less than 11 chars? (Tried with Firefoxx and IE 8, so not a browser fault)

So I called the tech support number which in the UK is an 0871 number and costs at least 10p per minute,as soon as I heard the Indian accent I knew I was in for trouble, after reading the serial number to the person 3 times I then explained the fault in extreme detail only to be told it was the pc that was faulty not the monitor, so I said it was not and was then put on hold for almost 2 minutes, he returned stating that it would be booked in for repair and "if found to be a warranty issue would be repaired, otherwise they would charge for the repair"

It's supposed to have 3 years on-site warranty, but they want to collect it and leave me without a monitor while the check it out. Not On-Site, so I explained this to the person and he said it was because it was 2 years old, After 5 minutes of me trying to explain to the moron that On-site means my premises I gave up as it was very difficult not to tell him to grow a brain and I hung up.

I have had similar problems with customers pc's and laptops in the past but because most of them were fairly new I usually recommend that they return it to the retailer and get a refund/exchange.

Overall I give Acer -11 out of 10 for customer service, I will not recommend them and strongly advice anyone from buying anything they stick their badge on.

To put it short and sweet my mother had a store at one time. Prominently displayed was a sign that simply said: "We have no quarrel with those that sell for less ..... they should know what their stuff is worth!" Am 66 years old, mom is long gone, but the memory stays with me to this day.

In other words you get what you pay for. Next time be smart and buy an HP. At least they have superior support 24/7/365 for the life of your product. I have never been asked for a credit card number up front.

I bought the Acer Aspire 5534-1096 and on the package it says WLAN: 802.11b/g/draft-N

and it says the same thing on the sticker on the laptop.  I bought a new router with N capability and lo and behold the acer wouldn't connect.

I was bounced back and forth between the outsourced support and the 'Paid' support ... I'm not paying for support when I'm still under warranty.  I'll buy a new wireless card and put it in myself if I have to.

I just got a laptop 2 weeks ago and voila had to call in and tried to get a fix and register my product. Welcome to acer no contact number nothing. Found a 800 number and spoke to some jerk who's first words were "whats wrong with it" I was taken aback then I hear "you don't hear right" Really? I asked to speak to a supervisor who was even ruder, decided to try to do the fix and registration online.If I can't then this Piece of garbage is going back and I'll get a decent machine with decent support. NEVER WILL WASTE MY HARDEARNED MONEY ON THESE RUDE BASTARDS

I'll be as brief as I can.  I purchased an Acer Inspire Notebook at my college. 

The thing crashed less than an hour after I started using it for the first time.  I called Acer and rather than send me a new one, they insisted I send it back to them, the shipping they paid for. 

I got it back and it still wouldn't work, despite the annotated repairs they have alleged to have made.  I called them again, and they talked me through reformatting the hard drive (since it didn't work long enough for me to have installed anything, nothing was lost.  Once that process was done (about 20 minutes), the thing froze every time I went on the internet, and I had to shut it off and try again.

The school I bought it refused to refund my money, and ACER wouldn't even let me talk to a manager.  So, I invoiced them for the cost of the computer.  Waiting to hear from them.

After having purchased a computer that would serve me well for many years (I am a disabled veteran), the monitor started having streaks from the top to the bottom about the 5th months after purchasing it.  Not knowing computers well, and going through personal problems myself, I just assumed it was a bad monitor, besides if I turned the computer off then on, the monitor was fine.  I have all 4 of my  outdated Compaq computers still here, but I did have to replace monitors, so no big deal.  However 1 year and 3 months after the ACER COMPUTER crashed (3 months out of warranty), I then had to get a "Geek" out to check it out ($170.).  He told me the motherboard was DEAD, and the cost of repair was greater than the value of the computer.  Soooooooo after 1 year and 3 months, I have a dead computer, and now working on one of my OLD computers..... Thanks ALOT ACER!!

Just to humor myself, and had a few minutes today, I tried to call customer support (several times).  The first call that got through, (computer generated) said the computer was out of warranty, and gave me phone numbers for tech support......(like tech support can help)!!   Then the phone disconnected.....that was it!!  I called back and shouted "CUSTOMER SERVICE", the recording said "the number you are calling from shows that your computer is out of warranty, please call tech support at blah, blah, blah, thank you, goodbye."  AND HUNG UP!!

Well, THANK YOU ACER, there are more people out there that I can tell than you have phone numbers for customer support.....so hopefully, your piece of crap computers and your company RIP.....it will only be time before EVERYONE is aware of your reputation for crappy products, sales and service.....

Their computer desktops, especially the Acer Aspire X1700, are defective and their /technical support/customer service people (all of their 1-800 numbers lead to the same people in India) always tell you the same thing: "You can pay to ship the tower to us.  We will try to diagnose the problem (I already know the problem/taken it to computer places/the power supply just died, even with a surge protector).  We may have to reformat your computer (that means that they ERASE evey bit of data on it permanently), but hopefully, that won't be necessary.  If we can fix the problem, we will do that and send it back to you around 10-14 days later.  Otherwise, we will return it to you unfixed." 

They will not simply send the right replacement part, none are available without having to buy them from a computer place online (if you can figure out which is right/Acer's parts are apparently unusual and uncommon/"Proprietary"?/still may not even fit properly), and then hope that it will be installed correctly by a computer savvy friend/expensive computer repair place.

So....AVOID ACER AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! Otherwise, ALL of the COSTS will be paid by YOU, not Acer.

Our laptop's hard drive crashed after barely one year.  Tried calling the customer service and spoke with the rudest, most disrespectful rep ever.  In no uncertain terms he said they couldn't, wouldn't help since it was out of warranty and refused to transfer my call to someone higher up.  It was the most frustrating experience I've ever had as a customer and we most certainly won't be buying another Acer product just because of this experience.

What a mistake!!!

Less than 1 year after purchase the camera stopped working then a USB port then another and now I need to replace the motherboard!

CS is no help - can't reach anybody.

Time to buy a new computer and it will never be another ACER.

Acer SUCKS!!!! Touchpad is ridiculously sensitive, with no real adjustment. Mine broke down five days and out warranty - yes FIVE DAYS!!!! The hard drive went out, and acer told me to BUY a new hard drive, and they would answer any questions I had about installing it.....ARE YOU KIDDING?? At least HP acts like they care. Heck, Gateway even sent me a new keyboard after mine quit working, free of charge, out of warranty.

Do yourself a favor, folks, and AVOID ACER!

acer computers suck.  Everyone i've known, including myself who has or had an acer computer says the things have broken down.  Needs new modems, new motherboards.  Acer is the worst computer you can buy.  It is nothing but a big headache.  I had mines for a few months, and out of that time i only had it for like maybe 3 months or something because the rest of the time i had it before i got a new computer, it was being sent off to be repaired.  Furthermore, i feel sorry for people who still have to use dial up and have an acer computer, because these computers mess up eventually when connecting to dial up.  No one knows how to fix it.  Its ridiculous.  I have a vaio now, and its the best computer i've ever had so far.

So far I'm scared that I won't get any help from anybody at acer since I can't seem to find a phone number (and for example their download crap asks for a location and they don't even cover the usa as one of many examples)...  Will keep this computer for about 85 days and then return it to Costco for my money back.  If this thing breaks down and a suspect it will the $500 I spent on the purchase will seem like small potatoes compared to what it will really cost me in the end.  I will eventually just buy a MAC (I was warned of this crap from my MAC friends....)

I have been boycotting Acer since 1994.  I had called in to a CSR with some problems...CSR was rude beyond description...I'm not going to describe the incident but needless to say I will NOT ever buy one of their computers.
